The earthquake in Nepal last Saturday is causing devastation to thousands of families that depend on foreign adventure trekkers for their work and livelihoods.

"We owe a lot to Nepal for being one of the original adventure travel icons. Words like Base Camp, Sherpa, Everest, Summit have been encoded into the language of trekking. All of them conjure images of the Himalayas in Nepal," says Kelly Acheson, President of Adventure Engine. "That's why we are pledging 2% of our monthly sales till the end of June to disaster relief. But we also want to use the power of the internet for more."

"Our clients operating adventure travel companies process thousands of transactions using our online reservation system. We are offering to add a "Give a Buck for Nepal" option on their online shopping carts when people make their tour reservations. It's an ideal way to get huge broad based emergency funding, right from the global adventure traveler community."

Adventure Engine will provide the changes to online shopping carts for free for any of their clients willing to install them.

"The need for money is urgent for immediate relief, but this program can run for a long time and help provide sustained resources to aid organizations. This will be critical to rebuild Nepal."
