Less than a year after the groundbreaking, over 350 residents were on hand to celebrate the ribbon cutting for the Stater Bros. grocery store that is the anchor of the Town Center at The Preserve, a mixed-use development currently under construction that features a variety of retail and service businesses with residential units above some retail units. Stater Bros. will soon be joined by a variety of other great businesses, including Kenwood’s Kitchen & Tap, Panera Bread, Aspire Salon Studios, Cold Stone Creamery, and many more! The full list of tenants is available at www.towncenterpreserve.com.
Pete Van Helden, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Stater Bros. Markets, welcomed the crowd and acknowledged members of the Stater Bros. Executive Leadership Team, project superintendents, City of Chino elected officials and staff, Chino Valley Chamber of Commerce representatives, and Lewis Retail Centers for their role in bringing the project to fruition.
Mr. Van Helden introduced Chino Mayor Eunice Ulloa, who noted that Stater Bros. has its roots in the Inland Empire and is tied to the region’s history. She thanked Stater Bros. for their commitment to the communities they serve, as reflected by the numerous donations provided by Stater Bros. Charities. During the event, $5,000 checks were handed to Food for Life Ministry, the Chino Police Foundation for the Children’s Well-Being Initiative, the Let It Be Foundation, American Legion Post 29, and the Chino Hills High School Music Boosters.
This is the third Stater Bros. in Chino, with the other two located in College Park and downtown neighborhoods, and the first grocery store in The Preserve. The Preserve consists of 5,435 acres that were annexed to the City of Chino in July 2003. Today it houses thousands of residents, bringing Chino’s population to 95,111, which is expected to reach 140,000 at buildout, creating a growing market for goods and services.
“As someone who has seen the Agricultural Preserve go from open fields and dairies to the beautiful, lively community it is today, with its distinct and welcoming neighborhoods, the Town Center at The Preserve, and this Stater Bros., are the cherry on top!” said Mayor Ulloa.
Residents from Chino, Eastvale, and Chino Hills waited eagerly for the 49,109 square foot grocery store’s doors to open, where the store’s Manager, Jonathan Yzaguirre, and staff were on hand to welcome customers and highlight the store’s unique features. Stater Bros. Store #209 is located at 8373 Pine Ave. Chino and is open Monday – Sunday from 6 a.m. – 11 p.m.
