From the Presidential Search Committee

Thank you to all who participated in the interviews with the four presidential finalists in mid-April and provided your feedback. Over 50 stakeholders representing the trustees, cabinet, faculty, administration, students, and The Women's Institute participated in the group interviews.

The Presidential Search Committee met on April 18 and selected two finalists for the board's consideration in early May. The search process has been rigorous and thorough, and we were fortunate to have a strong and diverse group of candidates to choose from. We look forward to announcing the new president shortly after graduation and beginning the transition and onboarding process in June.

Help Out in the Intercultural Cafes Every Monday and Thursday

We host an "Intercultural Cafe" every Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. (Spirituality Center, Troy) and Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. (West Hall, Albany). These are friendly gatherings where we facilitate English language practice and socializing. Come make new friends, learn about other cultures, and enjoy snacks and tea! As the current semester of student participants transition out, it's a great time to welcome new volunteers and guests.

Important Updates From the Title IX Office

The 2024 Title IX Final Rules on sex-based harassment and discrimination were made available by the U.S. Department of Education on April 19, 2024. The new regulations are posted here, and a 15-page summary of the major provisions is available here

The implementation date is August 1, 2024. Schools and institutions of higher education have just over 100 days to prepare to comply with these rules, similar to the timeline in 2020, though the magnitude of the changes required will, for most institutions, be far less significant than the 2020 changes. (https://www.grandriversolutions.com/)

Russell Sage College Office of Title IX is working closely with key internal and external stakeholders to meet these new requirements, including but not limited to our institutional memberships and consortium partners: Grand River SolutionsAssociation of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA), and SUNY Student Conduct Institute (SCI).

The college will review and revise applicable policies, procedures, and trainings for our campus community. And we will ensure that all Title IX personnel receive updated training ahead of the implementation date. Stay tuned for more information as we work to ensure the college is fully prepared to meet these requirements and implementation deadline.

Please reach out to Title IX Coordinator, Amanda Bastiani, with any questions or concerns at bastia@sage.edu or titleix@sage.edu
