Fullerton College had an eventful day on Sept. 12, 2017. The Cadena Cultural Center collaborated with Associated Students to host their annual Bienvenidos event, which served as a welcome day for students and a kick-off to Latino Heritage Month. Later that evening, Associated Students held their annual Quadchella music festival featuring bands and musical performances by students and other guest artists, as well as information tables for students to connect with campus resources.

Events Offered to Assist Undocumented Students
Several activities will take place in the next two weeks to help students prepare for the Thursday, October 5 deadline to renew applications for the federal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

Students Lead Growth Mindset Workshops
A new series of workshops designed to help students learn intelligent practices and improve overall student success will be led by their very own peers. The Growth Mindset Student Ambassadors are Fullerton College students who have created six workshops under the Pathway Transformation Initiative.

President's Open Forum Set For Sept. 18, Office Hour Will Be Sept. 21
In an effort to encourage communication and strengthen teamwork across campus, President Greg Schulz has scheduled a series of Open Forums during the 2017-2018 academic year. The next forum is today, Sept. 18 at 2 p.m. in Building 200, Room 224. All faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to attend.

Learn Tips to Quit Smoking
A free one-session class is open for students and staff who would like to quit smoking. Create a plan to quit and receive a free supply of nicotine patches for attending. The class is facilitated by Anaheim Regional Medical Center's smoking cessation specialist. The first session is on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 10 a.m. in Room 229 and will repeat again on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 4 p.m. in Room 229.

Annual High School Counselor's Breakfast Seeking Speakers
Instructors who attended a high school at either FJUHSD, PYLSD or AUHSD and went on to attend FC or another community college before transferring, are being sought for a panel during this event. The goal of this panel is to share with local high school counselors' experiences as local students going on to community college and transfer. Student Equity Committee Seeking Proposals
Proposals for projects that address disproportionate impact for students across at least one equity indicator are needed. Areas with large disproportionate impact include course success among African American students, Hispanic females/Latina students, and African American, American Indian, and Filipino BOG B students as well as transfer for Hispanic or Latino students and BOG B recipients. The equity

Open Enrollment Now Online
NOCCCD is pleased to announce the first online open enrollment for all health, dental, and vision plans. During the open-enrollment period, eligible employees may make changes to their current benefit elections. Please take the time to review your current benefit elections to understand your plan options, coverage, and rates. If no changes are necessary, you must confirm your benefit selections online. Open enrollment changes must be completed by Oct. 6. Open enrollment is accessible through myGateway with your single sign-in log on.

Football
The Hornet football team traveled up to Cougar Country to take on the College of the Canyons on Saturday and won in a shootout 42-28. Ranked #1 in the state and #3 in the nation, Fullerton College took care of business holding off a talented Canyons squad that kept the game close until the end of the third quarter. Read more...

The FC women's golf team got the season started on Wednesday playing at Royal Vista where Hornet freshman Kaylee Jeon shot the lowest score of the day at 78.

Sophomores Robert Leffler, Logan Lannon and Austin Case will all play at four-year schools next spring. Leffler and Lannon will join their teammate Chris Sanchez at East Central University in Oklahoma. Case will play for the Titans at Cal State Fullerton.

FC Art Collection: Color and Contrast

The Fullerton College Art Department is proud to be in the possession of a very fine and envied collection of paintings, drawings, prints, and other objets d'art. "Color and Contrast" seeks to highlight and share some of the collection's finest examples, including works by prominent and influential figures such as Milford Zornes, Ruth Ellen Weisberg, Hung Liu, and Thomas Campbell. Stunning works by lesser known artists are also featured in this important exhibition that signals the beginning of a new, productive and exciting academic year.
