Hello Harajuku is a student-produced and organized fashion show highlighting the vibrant and unique styles of Japan's Harajuku district. Fashion students have worked together to design and style looks inspired by the fashion trends across Japan for this year's annual Fullerton Department Fashion Show. It will be held at the Wilshire Auditorium from 6:30-9 p.m. on Monday, May 14.

The Religious Studies Department, in collaboration with the Orange County Interfaith Network, will be hosting an interfaith conversation on the struggle to create gender equality in religion today on Friday, May 11 at 4 p.m. in Room 1440. This event will feature speakers from the Mormon, Catholic, Sikh, and Muslim traditions who are working toward greater opportunities for women and transgender individuals within their religious communities.

Disability Support Services will have its annual Recognition Ceremony on Tuesday, May 8 from 2-4 p.m. in Room 229. This is an uplifting event where scholarship winners and graduates are honored. The guest speakers this year are students Corey Lamb and Robert Alan Brantley.

The Horticulture Department's annual sale is on Saturday, May 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Plants for sale include California natives and drought-tolerant plants, herbaceous perennials, flowering shrubs, vines, shade and house plants, succulents, tomatoes, hot and sweet peppers, and herbs. Only cash and checks are accepted.

Health Services will host a Rest and Relaxation event for students on Wednesday, May 16 and Thursday, May 17 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. in Room 224-228. Take a break from studying and focus on some self-care. Coloring, snacks, meditation and nap tents will be available.

The Office of Campus Communications is currently seeking students for the 2018-19 Student Ambassador position. The Student Ambassador program features continuing Fullerton College students who enjoy sharing their knowledge of Fullerton College with high school students, fellow Fullerton College students, constituents, faculty, staff and the community. Basic Skills is hosting various Student Success Workshops during the semester. These workshops are open to all students and are facilitated by graduate students in the Basic Skills Graduate Student Mentorship Program. This workshop is Thursday, May 10 at 2 p.m. in Room 808A. The #15 seeded Hornets ended their season over the weekend at Mt. San Antonio College losing both games in the best of three series 6-3 and 7-4. It was a great season for the Hornets making their third straight post-season appearance and with 10 very talented players and recruits coming in to compete next season the future is bright.

Sophia Gaitatjis was the lone Hornet swimmer to represent in the State Championships at De Anza College this past weekend. She advanced to the consolation final and placed 16th in 200-yard Butterfly with her best time of 2:23.44. "She improved her time and had an excellent meet in conclusion to the season," said Coach Pete Snyder.

The Southern California Regional Prelims were contested at San Diego Mesa College this past Saturday. This meet was a qualifying round for all events with the exception of the horizontal throws as finals only. Qualifying for next week in the finals will be the 400-meter relay from Shyleen Ramos, Jordyn Reese, Madison Reese, and Myrna Gillas. Yessenia Gutierrez will compete in the discus event. Sophomore Marianne Gourd had personal bests in her two events with shot put and hammer. Freshman Josie Riese jumped one foot from her PR in the long jump and ended her season of competition. Sophomore, Jordyn Reese wrapped up her 100 meter race with a time of 12.85. Her sister, Madison Reese was a snap behind her with a time of 12.94. Next week all events will compete for qualifying to state championships in Bakersfield. Up Next: The Southern California Regional Championships will start at 11 a.m.

This annual exhibition presents the best of the best artwork created during this academic year. Prizes will be awarded to the students who demonstrate the highest artistic merit. Many works are available for purchase.

The Electronic Music Ensemble is the only true pop and EDM ensemble at Fullerton College where traditional and non-traditional musicians meet and work together. The repertoire is student-driven and consists of original material written by students as well as new arrangements of true rock and EDM classics.

The Woodwind Ensemble is chamber ensemble that offers an opportunity to play woodwind masterworks in a more intimate musical setting. The ensemble is comprised of flutes, clarinets, oboes, bassoons, French horns and saxophones.

This performance encompasses big band literature to teach the jazz musician the fundamentals of style, interpretation and ensemble playing.

May 9, 7:30 p.m., Campus Theatre

The Fullerton College Symphony is a full orchestral ensemble comprised of strings, winds, brass and percussion. The orchestra is comprised of undergraduate music majors and non-music majors who perform at a high level.

May 10, 7:30 p.m., Wilshire Auditorium

The Fullerton College Chorale has a tradition of camaraderie. The chorale performs both on and off campus and provides students an opportunity to perform a broad range of music from a variety of genres.

May 10-12, and May 17-19,  7:30 p.m., Bronwyn Dodson Theatre

This play takes place in the parking lot of the Hummingbird Motel, off the titular highway near New Orleans where the hotel's residents have gathered to celebrate the life of Miss Ruby, an iconic burlesque queen who has been a mother figure to them all. Miss Ruby's life is nearing its end, and she requests that her funeral takes place while she is still alive so she can attend the festivities. As the Mardi Gras-esque celebration continues into the night, the stories of the residents, their pain and disappointments unfold.

The Cabana Boys are a high energy group performing contemporary music including latin, rock, fusion and pop. This ensemble performs on and off campus throughout the year.
