President's Office Hour
President Greg Schulz is opening his office door once again to host informal meetings with students, faculty, staff and the community. The President's Office Hour encourages members of the Fullerton College community to share ideas, express concerns and highlight successes. The next office hour is on Thursday, March 30 at 9 a.m. in the Building 100 Lobby.
Students Honored For Community Service
Students in the Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Gamma Sigma (AGS) were recently honored for their community service with the Fullerton School District. AGS is dedicated to providing members community service opportunities in and outside of campus, and has been involved with Commonwealth Elementary School for two years and has participated in activities such as Saturday School and the Commonwealth Haunted Library during the school's Fall Festival.

Spring Health Fair Set for March 29
Health Services will be on the Quad on March 29 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. for the annual Spring Health Fair. This is Health Services' largest event with more than 20 community organizations coming to campus to share health and wellness information. The Accreditation Steering Committee has completed a second draft of the Self-evaluation Report that is now available for review on the
Accreditation web page. All members of the campus community are encouraged to read the draft and give feedback to the committee to use as it prepares the final report. Marieke Claassen Named Teacher of Year
Congratulations to Math Professor Marieke Claassen for being selected as the 2016-17 Teacher of the Year! The Teacher of Year celebration will take place later this spring and will also recognize nine other finalists: Sheilah Stokes Dobyns, Amber Rose González, Aline Gregorio, Delmas Bruce Magee, Michael Mangan, Mary Nolan-Riegle, Kristy Richardson, Ryan Shiroma and Tamara Trujillo.

Summer Session Registration Begins May 2
Fullerton College Summer Session runs from June 12 through August 10. More than 475 sections of courses will be offered in a condensed-semester format allowing students an opportunity to get a head start before the fall or accelerate completion of their associate degrees, bachelor degrees or career certificates. VP of Administrative Services Selected
On Tuesday, March 14, the North Orange County Community College District Board of Trustees voted unanimously to appoint Rod Garcia as Fullerton College's Vice President of Administrative Services. Garcia is excited to join our Fullerton College family and has been serving as FC's interim vice president of administrative services since July 2016. Prior to his leadership role at Fullerton College, Garcia served as district director of fiscal affairs and district manager of fiscal affairs at NOCCCD. Previous to his role at NOCCCD, he worked as a supervisor and certified public accountant (CPA) for the firm Vicenti, Lloyd & Stutzman LLP.
Reminder: Sociology Club Animal Shelter Collection
Items needed include collars, leashes, harnesses, dog/cat treats and food, potty pads, toys, blankets, dog beds, grooming supplies, paper towels, laundry detergent, cat litter and boxes, etc. A drop-off box will be located in the 1400 Building, Room 1423-04 or a member of the club can pick up the items on campus. Save the Date: Stand Up, Speak Out
Make a pledge to end sexual assault and violence on April 5 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Quad. Health Services will provide pledge cards and "Stand Up, Speak Out" wristbands. Local agencies with information on sexual assault and domestic violence to share community resources and information will also be available.
Save the Date: Style Night
The FC Fashion Department presents its first annual Style Night on May 11 at the Wilshire Auditorium from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Style Night is a free event for the FC campus and local community to experience fashion at Fullerton College. The first annual Style Night will be a department showcase of student work and includes music, photo opportunities, a live style competition judged by local fashion bloggers, a high school upcycle competition, industry speakers and an award ceremony. Join Fullerton College's Fashion Department in a family friendly experience that celebrates the department and local fashion industry partners for their hard work.

Mindfulness Practice Sessions
The FC Mindfulness Group is happy to announce three 30-minute Mindfulness Practice sessions for Spring 2017 open to the campus community. These practices can be applied to any experience by anyone in any capacity on the Fullerton College campus. Students are encouraged to attend as mindfulness may lead to greater academic success. Ending the Cycle of Fear
This presentation, on Tuesday, March 28 at 8:30 a.m. at the Anaheim campus, will focus on using critical consciousness to better understand Muslims, Arabs, as well as ourselves. Objectives include building awareness on how inclusion is affected by individuals' complex identities, increase the intercultural consciousness as it relates to Muslims and Arabs in America and learn strategies to support and improve cultural competence through critical consciousness. District-wide Budget Allocation Model Forum
Vice Chancellor of Finance and Facilities and District Director of Fiscal Affairs will present how funds are allocated in the District using the Budget Allocation Model and answer any questions regarding fiscal distribution. Fullerton College is hosting their forum on Tuesday, April 4 from 3 - 5 p.m. in Room 226.
Staff Development
A Collaboration in an Online Class workshop will be on Tuesday, March 28 at 10 a.m. in the TEC, Room 800D. On Friday, March 31, there is a Gradebook workshop in Room 800D at 10 a.m. and a creating safe offices and classrooms for LGBTQ students workshop in Room 1427 at 10:30 a.m.

California Community Colleges Board of Governors Honors Four Faculty Members with 2016-17 Gerald C. Hayward Award for Excellence in Education
The California Community Colleges Board of Governors honored four professors with the 2016-17 Gerald C. Hayward Award for Excellence in Education. The winners are Jo Wen Wu (Fullerton College) Marina Broeder (Mission College), Amanda Paskey (Cosumnes River College) and Sally Saenger (Santa Barbara City College). Each winner received a commemorative plaque and $1,250.

Women's Track
It was an extraordinary day for the Hornets that saw 12 personal records setting up a 81-40 win over Golden West College in an Orange Empire Conference dual meet last Friday. There were season best times that helped win both relays in the 400-meter and 1600-meter. The Hornets swept the competition in the shot put, discus and hammer.
Up Next: The Arnie Robinson Invitational at San Diego Mesa College on April 1 at 11:30 a.m.
Men's Track
Fullerton handled Santa Ana with minimal effort, outscoring the Dons 85-23. The battle with Golden West was much closer, with the Hornets edging the Rustlers 79-67. The Hornet big men came to compete, sweeping through the throwing events.
Up Next: The Hornets head to San Diego next Saturday, April 1 to compete at the Arnie Robinson Invitational at San Diego Mesa College.
Softball
The Hornets have been playing really well lately winning eight out of their last nine games. Over the weekend, Fullerton went 4-0 at the Santa Barbara City College Tournament beating East LA 5-2, Taft 7-5, LA Valley 10-2, and Santa Barbara 3-2.
Up Next: FC will play an Orange Empire Conference game against Santiago Canyon College at home this Wednesday, March 29 at 2 p.m.
Baseball
The Hornets hosted Saddleback College on Friday afternoon wrapping up the Orange Empire Conference season series and fell to the Gauchos 5-1 losing the series two games to one.
Up Next: The Hornets (12-13 overall, 2-7 OEC) will try and pick it back up when they host Santa Ana College this Tuesday, March 28th at 2 p.m.
Men's Volleyball
The Hornets their first conference match on the road last Wednesday to Orange Coast College 3-0.
Up Next: FC will host Irvine Valley College in another conference duel on Wednesday, March 29 at 6 p.m.
Women's Tennis
The FC women's tennis team lost 7-2 at San Diego City College last Friday.

Men's Tennis
The Hornets traveled down to south to Grossmont College last Friday and picked up a nice 7-2 win over the Griffins. All three FC doubles teams in Bernardo Flores/Andrew Tenora, Moises Esteves/Brandon Go, and Sean McCormack/Chris Enciso won their matches.

The Fullerton College Art Gallery welcomes Abel Alejandre as the 2017 Artist in Residence. Alejandre frequently explores the public and private spheres of masculinity. He has come across no definitive answers, and seeks only to record, and to interpret, a lifetime of observation.
