Planning for a Strong Future

Dear St. Pius X Community,

I am thrilled to share that our Strategic Plan, a collective effort of our St. Pius X community, is well underway! Over 750 alumni, current parents, and parents of alumni participated in our recent Strategic Plan survey. We asked people to gauge the school’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, and what they love about St. Pius X. We received a wealth of information that will guide us as we plan for the future. Next Monday, we will extend this opportunity to our 1,000+ students to get their input.

While surveys are invaluable, your direct engagement in a face-to-face setting is crucial. To that end, we are hosting two Strategic Plan Roundtable sessions on April 24, 2024, one from 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. and one from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Please consider joining us and making your voice heard. Your hopes and dreams for St. Pius X, as well as your suggestions for improvement, will shape our future.

You may RSVP for the Roundtable sessions here. (If you cannot attend either of the sessions but would like to be involved, you can let us know through the RSVP link.)

In addition to myself and Principal Edye Simpson, our Steering Committee is comprised of engaged and committed members of our community, including:

Bonnie Chandler, Current Parent

Pat Esser, Parent of Alumni and Member of the President’s Advisory Council

Kristin Kramer ‘98, Social Studies Department Chair

Dev Maguire ‘74, Chair of the President’s Advisory Council

Jenn Prindiville, Current Parent and Member of the Archdiocesan School Advisory Council

Sara Schmitt, Director of Enrollment

Jenn Sedlack, Director of Advancement

Kim Woods, Business Manager

Faculty member Ed Lindenkugel is consulting on this project and leading our efforts. Ed, a former Catholic school Principal and Head of School is a seasoned professional who has led successful strategic plans for other Catholic entities. We are pleased to have one of our own piloting this process.

Please pray for us as we create a strategic plan that allows us to better serve our students, faculty, and families. With the help of our engaging community, I am confident that we will leave St. Pius X better than we found it.

Domini Sumus,

New Boys Basketball Coach Named

St. Pius X Catholic High School is pleased to announce Coach Will Cloyd as the new Head Boys Basketball Coach for the 2024-25 school year.

A varsity assistant since 2013, Coach Cloyd has worked with players at all levels in the program and has an outstanding sense for program development and community. "Will's interview was tremendous," said Todd Mooney, St. Pius X Athletic Director. "He was very well prepared and demonstrated not only his depth of basketball knowledge and plans for our program but a contagious love for our school and the student-athletes within the basketball program."

President and Former Head Coach Aaron Parr added, "Will was an assistant coach on my staff for 11 seasons. During that time, he was involved in all aspects of our program, and his work ethic was second to none. He has grown tremendously as a coach and leader, and I am thrilled he is getting the opportunity to lead our highly successful boys' basketball program. I am excited for St. Pius X basketball to continue our longstanding tradition of excellence with Coach Cloyd at the helm."

Coach Cloyd is a 2008 St. Pius X graduate with a BS in English from Guilford College. He joined the English faculty in 2018. "It has been my distinct pleasure to be a part of the Boys' Basketball program since 2013, and I am thrilled to be moving into the Varsity Head Coaching position. I will work tirelessly to advance the program's success from top to bottom, and I look forward to working with our young people as the Head Varsity Boys' Basketball Coach. Go Lions!"

St. Pius X Fine Arts Spring Season in Full Swing

The Fine Arts Department is having a busy spring! From sold-out performances of The Little Mermaid and the annual Spring Dance Concert to the 20th Annual Juried Arts Exhibition, the school has been buzzing with fine arts activities! Fine Arts students performed for their peers in the annual Arts Assembly in March. The Band and Guitar programs earned superior ratings at their Large Group Performance Evaluations. The Chorus and Vocal Studio program hosted Coffee breaks for students to enjoy coffee and hot cocoa while listening to live music and taking away the cares of the day. They recently performed for the City of Hope Cancer Center in Newnan.

Coming up...

Seniors will be honored on Wednesday, April 17, at the Fine Arts Diploma Seal and Arts Signing Ceremony. Students who have dedicated four years to an arts area and/or plan to major or minor in the arts in college will be recognized.

We will round out the semester with spring concerts for Guitar on April 19, Band on April 25, and Chorus on April 26. Tickets to those events will be available soon here. We thank our community for supporting the arts at St. Pius X!
