Hotshot Mural Reveal

On Wednesday, June 28th a new mural was revealed on the west side (corner of Montezuma and West Gurley streets) of the Prescott Chamber of Commerce building to honor the 10th Anniversary of Prescott's Granite Mountain 19 Hotshots.

Katie Von Kral's creation totals 462 square feet of acrylic painted artwork on 11 separate panels, which serves as a testament that Prescott continues to honor and remember these men. The reveal was led by Fire Chief, Holger Durre as the Master of Ceremonies and began with a prayer from Pastor Billy Van Camp.

Heartfelt sentiments were shared by Senator Ken Bennett, Mayor Phil Goode, John Marsh from the Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshot Crew Learning & Tribute Center, and the Prescott Fire Department.

A certificate of recognition was also presented by Prescott Chamber of Commerce Foundation Board Chair, Darla DeVille of APS and Mackenzie Rodgers, also from APS and Past Chair and Board Member of the Prescott Chamber of Commerce.

Stage 1 Fire Restrictions went into effect last Thursday, June 29th, in all of Yavapai County.

Please help keep our community safe.

Stage 1 Fire Restrictions

A public service announcement:

Together We can be Prepared

Arizona’s hot and dry weather puts our state at risk for wildfires, from the forest areas of northern Arizona to the Valley where wildfire risk is rising. A lot of APS equipment, including the power lines that bring electricity to our communities, runs through these areas. That means, for APS, we prepare and respond to wildfires year-round. Check out what we do to keep you and our communities safe and the power on.
