The ResistAIM Action Camp Team is putting together a 3-DAY ACTION CAMP
modeled on other successful action camp our allies around the world have used to shut down a dangerous infrastructure that threatens the health and safety of our communities.
ResistAIM August Action
Camp is for parents, doctors, teachers, artists, activists, college students, business owners, retirees and anyone else wanting to learn more about the epic battle that's being waged against the fracked gas industry in Peekskill, NY.
Plan on workshops and panels to cover subjects that will include:
- Gas Industry BIG PICTURE (Why are they doing this? Who's behind it?)
- Organizing 101 (How do we build a movement?)
- Enviro Monitoring 101 led by expert at Delaware Riverkeeper
- Scouting and how to report back to your group
- Police liaising and de-escalation
- Direct action planning (A LOT goes into an action in the background, how to do it!)
- Creative blockades (There are a lot of ways to take space, let's get creative!)
- Conscious Fighting
- Indigenous history of the area with a special guest speaker (There ain't nothing ALGONQUIN about this pipeline)
- Creating Art to tell our story!
- Creating the BEST media story!
- Climate 101!
- Climbing, knots and tricks in the outdoors
- BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS with each other to sustain ourselves in this difficult work we all chose to do with our lives.
