Kangaroos and snow? Absolutely! Although native to Australia, kangaroos are hardy in cold temperatures when given time to adapt. As the weather cools in the fall, they start to grow thick winter coats that keep them warm.
Rooster, left, grows thick fur on his body and above the elbows, which looks like he's wearing a sweater with the sleeves pushed up. He's joined in this photo with his kangaroo pal Roodolph. Maybe they're planning a snowball fight?
On winter days our kangaroos like to play in the snow and explore, and when evening comes they cozy up on thick beds of hay in their heated barn.

It’s time to start thinking about Easter (April 9)! Our Holiday Hams are available for pre-order now through Feb. 10.
Hansen's Hams are supplied from Webster City Custom Meats in Webster City, Iowa. They are bone-in, skinless, shankless and certified hickory smoked. There are two sizes: half hams (7-9 pounds, serves 10) and whole hams (15-18 pounds, serves 20).
Prices are as follows:
- Half ham, uncut: $4.09/lb
- Half ham, spiral cut: $5.29/lb
- Whole ham, uncut: $3.99/lb

In our monthly Meet the Moo Crew series, we'll highlight our valuable employees who help bring the freshest local products to your table.
This month we're featuring Jeff Walters, Manager of Hansen's Dairy store in Cedar Falls.
Jeff was recruited by the Hansen family to manage the store based on his extensive experience as a former grocery store owner and convenience store manager. He has led the Cedar Falls store for more than two years.
"I've watched it evolve into this beautiful store. It's been fantastic," he says.

Carole Deeds loves Hansen's butter. No, really. Loves. Hansen's. Butter.
"I use it on anything that needs butter, especially toast. I could put some on a knife and lick it right off," Carole says, laughing.
That kind of fandom deserves recognition as our February Customer of the Month.
Carole lives in Cedar Falls but shops both our Cedar Falls and Waterloo stores. She was introduced to Hansen's milk and butter many years ago on a farm tour with her then-young grandson Quincy, shown here all grown up with his grandma.
While butter tops Carole's list of favorites, she also loves our Butter Pecan Ice Cream.
"I can't get out of the Cedar Falls store without an ice cream cone!" she says.

Meet Sweet Tart, our February Cow of the Month!
At 2 years old, she has already proven herself to be a valuable member of the herd. She has a real affinity for the milking parlor and likes being milked on one side of the parlor in particular.
She's a productive cow, milking about 80 pounds per day. Sweet Tart's markings are unique; her coat is mostly white, with black markings on her neck, ears and eyes. But her real standout feature is the cute little black dot on her mostly pink nose.
Sweet Tart's not just pretty, though. She's also a really sweet cow, making her the perfect lady to feature as we approach Valentine's Day.

Cheeseburger Macaroni Soup |

Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 4 hours
Total time: 4 hours, 15 minutes
Serves: 8 or more

Ingredients
- 2 lbs. Hansen’s Dairy Ground Beef*
- 8 cups (1/2 gallon) Hansen’s Dairy Milk*
- 4 cups Burnett Dairy Fancy Jack Shredded Cheese*
- 2 cups dry elbow macaroni
- Black pepper to taste
* Items that can be purchased at Hansen’s Dairy stores

Directions
- Brown ground beef and place in 6-quart crock pot.
- Add milk and cook on low for 3½ hours.
- Add macaroni and 2 cups of the cheese. Stir occasionally.
- When macaroni is soft, fold in remaining cheese.
- Ladle into bowls and add black pepper to taste.
