This week's prayer points are shared by David Wofford:

As we enter this Fourth Week during the Season of Lent, the Lord continues to offer us this chance to be transformed by the power of confession and repentance in Christ. What better time than Lent to observe outward transformation happening in Creation while also having the chance to allow God to do an inward transformation in us! One only needs to walk now in North Georgia to see the beauty of flowering azaleas, dogwoods, wisterias, and rhododendrons all around -- the outward signs of seasonal transformation and growth. Likewise, when we stop and read the Scriptures with prayer during this season in the Church, we cannot help but sense the transformation God is doing in us personally and communally. I sense this is what God wants us to consider as we pray for His Church during the week ahead.

In prayer, I hear the Lord offering these three things to take to prayer this week:

  • Pray for your hearts to become soft and pliable for God’s use. May we allow ourselves to become more bendable, but not breakable. During the days to come, ask God to place a willingness to risk your heart being wounded. God is calling us to be vulnerable to take the next steps to enter the love of God. May we have the heart of Joseph toward his brothers in Genesis 50:20-21, “Even though you intended evil against me, God intended it for good, to do as it is this day, to preserve alive a numerous people. Now therefore do not be afraid; I will sustain you and your little ones. And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.”

  • Pray for congregations to begin to capture God’s vision into their communities. Psalm 146 tells us, “Jehovah executes judgement for the oppressed, gives food for the famished, frees the prisoners, opens the eyes of the blind, raises up those who are bowed down, loves the righteous, preserves the sojourners, upholds the orphan and the widow, and subverts the way of the wicked.” May God place significant vision onto the people of the Church in North Georgia and may God place detailed steps to be taken. Let us pray for clarity in the near and distant days ahead. May we enter the anxiety being presented to us with courage to engage the challenges confidently and peacefully. When we see His vision for our communities, as wild or different than God’s ideas may be, may we allow God to make a way for His work.

  • Pray for our hearts to be broken for the people of North Georgia.  As Peter proclaimed in Acts 3:19-20, “Repent therefore and turn, that your sins may be wiped away, so that seasons of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord and He may send the Christ.” Pray for the Awakening of God to continue - may we offer God more license to work in our towns and shires! Pray that the Awakening happening worldwide will continue to spill over onto North Georgia. Pray for a heart of confession and repentance, led by the Holy Ghost, to emerge and alight our congregations and our communities. May God prepare the Table in our congregations for His outpouring - that He would pour transformational blessing onto people of all ages and cultures across the entire region!

Lord, move in our hearts this week to be transformed. Transform us as you see fit. Transform your congregations as you see fit. Transform your region of North Georgia as you see fit. In Jesus’ name we pray.
