FREEDOM TO PRAY

“Free Time on Your Hands”

Americans were excited when the time came, and a certain historical freedom was established through the “Declaration of Independence” with all of the benefits associated to that agreement; and many in society celebrate the “Fourth of July” annually. What a milestone to experience a great political and natural freedom! That’s amazing! But, what’s more amazing is to experience the spiritual freedom that we have in Christ, and the benefits that accompany His covenant with Christian believers. John 8:36 says, “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” Romans 8:2 further declares, “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.”

We are bought with a price as we glorify God in our bodies and our spirits, which are His. (I Corinthians 6:20) Although we are free moral agents of free choice, God desires that we choose and use our time wisely as we serve Him as the Body of Christ. We are His Hands, His Feet … His Body. Realistically, we take the time out or “free up the time” to do whatever we really have a strong desire to get done. In choosing, it sometimes becomes a matter of preference, passion, and priority. Have you or someone you know ever been in an emergency or a life or death situation, and you felt that God rescued “just in the nick of time?” We often say, “He’s never too early, never too late, but always right on time!” Well, what quality “time” do we really give God in our communication and relationship with Him? He shows up on time for us, but do we show up on time for Him? Put time on your hands! I’m not talking about the watch on your wrist, secured slightly above your hand, which we often watch closely, because we are so conscious of time, in order to fulfill other temporal and less valuables duties on our schedules. Take off the watch; clasp your hands in prayer … there is “free time on your hands.” It’s a mindset … you are free to pray. You are free in Christ and you do have free time to pray!

When you look at your hands, imagine using them to turn over an hour glass filled with the “sands of time” and allowing it to be a simple reminder of how time flies, and let it give you the incentive to take a timeout to use your time wisely to pray. Ecclesiastes 9:10 states, “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.” In light of eternity, we really have “all the time in the world” allocated to seek the face of God and things pertaining to His kingdom! We often get caught up with the hustle and bustle of life and the demands of a fast-paced society. But, don’t be so busy “making an earthly living,” that you forget about “making an eternal life.” Value the time you have before you … Yesterday is the past (gone), tomorrow is the future (unpromised), but today is the present (tangible). There is no time like the present! Psalm 69:13 declares, “But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time:” Prayer is our lifeline to God, especially in this troubled world and these last days that we live in. Remember, time is of the essence! I came across the following statements regarding “time” that I want to share:

To realize the value of ONE YEAR, ask the student who failed a grade.

To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask the mother who gave birth to a premature baby.

To realize the value of ONE WEEK, ask the editor of a weekly newspaper.

To realize the value of ONE HOUR, ask the family in the hospital waiting room.

To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask the person who just missed their airplane flight.

To realize the value of ONE SECOND, ask the individual who just avoided the fatal accident.

To realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the athlete who won a silver medal in the Olympics instead of the gold.

Value every moment of time, and realize we are not in a “crunch time” for prayer. We can use time wisely, and pray! We sing the song, “I Am Free,” know this too, “Through You (Jesus) my heart screams, I am free; I am free to run; I am free to dance; I am free to live for You; I am free; I am free;” but, you also have FREEDOM TO PRAY! So, let me ask that question again. Regarding prayer, do you have “free time on your hands?” The answer is “Yes!”

Pray for America and Other Nations

As we observe the Fourth of July, let’s pray for America. Let’s pray for other nations also.

  • Pray for our president and all governmental officials of America and other nations. Pray God would direct us in the Spirit as we pray for our present administration, our current leaders from every rank―government officials on the national, state, and city levels.
  • Render prayer for all spiritual leaders and churches. Pray that all leaders will love the Truth; have divine knowledge and the spirit of wisdom; display courage and integrity; be sharp in insight and quick in discernment; practice Godly and moral principles; maintain good health; have God's protection and divine strength; and have specific needs met.
  • Pray that our leaders would allow God’s mighty hand to direct and guide them to lead America and to be an advocate of His great design for the country. Pray that in the midst of economic crisis and uncertainty that God’s wisdom and power would flow through them and that it would be displayed in their speech and their actions.
  • Petition for our federal judiciary leaders who value constitutional rights and religious liberties. Intercede that efforts and proposed legislation would not prosper that seek to remove our acknowledgement of God in our nation.
  • Pray for those who are political candidates in the upcoming presidential race in America. Pray for God’s will to be done. Pray for God’s great plan to be fulfilled.
  • Intercede that voters would look beyond personal biases and to that which most honors God and represents His interests and desire for the nation. Pray that believers would unite around God’s agenda, and not party affiliation.
  • Pray that God would pour out His Spirit upon our national leaders and make His Word known to them. Pray that their hearts and ears would be attentive to godly counsel, doing what is right in God’s sight. Intercede that they be just, and lead in the fear of God. Pray that they surround themselves with good staff members and advisers.
  • Supplicate that the nation and its leaders remember to adhere to the scripture “If my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (II Chronicles 7:14). Pray that the Lord would raise up a standard in the nation and “revive His work in the midst of us.” Pray for the seven centers of power: government, church, education, media, family, business, and military.
  • Pray that God would raise up more intercessors in America and other nations to pull down strongholds that are contrary to His plan.
  • Believe for a great awakening to sweep across America and nations worldwide. Pray for great revival and that God “pour out His Spirit upon all flesh,” as His glory is revealed!

The World Network of Prayer Presents

24/7 WATCH: A Year-Round Initiative for 24/7 Prayer

As of January 1, 2023, WNOP has continued the 24/7 prayer and fasting chain worldwide. It has been such a great success in 2022 that it was requested again. Each week WNOP is posting a prayer focus as daily prayer for the entire week. Also, weekly a video is posted on the WNOP Facebook Page of a prayer leader and/or minister leading in periodic prayer.

Many people throughout the world have signed up by committing in their hearts unto God that they will consistently join together in united prayer and fasting. WNOP also has partnered with those in local churches who are already a part of a current 24-hour prayer chain. All of these hours of consecration are culminating to help provide a complete mass prayer covering over the entire Church body and to help bring greater success in all that we do in Christ! Together, let’s “watch and pray” and behold great and mighty things in the kingdom of God! Let’s prevail over the enemy with victory and declare, “Not on My Watch!”
