The Whole ARMOR of GOD
Dress for Success!
“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil… Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God…” (Ephesians 6:11-18).
The phrase “Dress for Success” was first coined by author John Malloy in the 1970s and signifies tailoring one's attire, grooming, and overall appearance toward...making a great first impression in a job interview and…a professional look while on the job to aid career advancement. It was highlighted that “if you want to be successful in your career, then dress like a successful person.”
How much more in the “Work of God” should we, the Church, be dressed for success to please God and to gain territory to further advance His kingdom? (Colossians 1:10, Exodus 23:30) Apparently, even David in the Old Testament was in fashion and was looking good…for he was “dressed to kill,” but it was not in Saul’s armor…the attire of human ingenuity or ability, but he was shrouded (adorned) with God’s divine covering and empowerment, and he killed Goliath in the name of the Lord! How much more is the Church, dressed for success as we go forth in the NAME of JESUS, attired with God’s armor, to defeat the adversary! It is essential that we put on the Whole Armor of God “daily,” especially as we pray strategic prayers in God’s kingdom. “Put on Christ,” and as you abide in Him, and He in you, and you fight in prayer, you will obtain the victory! So, confidently put on the Whole Armor of God!
Having your loins girt about with truth,
Loving truth protects our spiritual loins, which is the seat of procreation/reproduction. This preservation from false precepts girds us. Gird means to bind with a flexible band by holding fast the contents.
And having on the breastplate of righteousness;
The breastplate covers the heart so that it remains pure. To be in right-standing with God is important in your relationship with Him. “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
The mobility/sole of one’s feet represents spreading the “good news” and shedding peace. “…How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!”
Above all, taking the shield of faith…ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
The shield of faith helps to quench fiery darts of the adversary. Such potential harmful penetrations may be wounds from anger, bitterness, jealousy, strife, unforgiveness, condemnation, gossip, revenge, etc.
And take the helmet of salvation,
The helmet of salvation protects the mind/covers the head from a blow that may be fatal. Embrace godly views/thoughts and cover principles of salvation, deliverance, preservation, healing, sanity, etc.
And the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
The sword of the Spirit is God’s Word used as we are on the offense declaring truth. “The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing…dividing soul and spirit…”
Wanted: A Spotless Bride. Jesus has chosen us to fill that vacant position. He’s our Knight in Shining Armor on the white horse, and with the Whole Armor of God, we (the Bride of Christ) later will exchange that “whole armor” for a “white gown,” prepared to meet Him because we are…dressed for success!
