Growing oats for a food-grade market requires special consideration to test weight. Due to increased milling efficiency, processors require that food-grade oats meet a certain test weight threshold, under which the price is docked.

This blog summarizes our December shared learning call, during which Darren Fehr of Mallard discussed his tips for consistently growing high test weight oats for a food-grade market.
