Equipping farmers to build resilient farms and communities.
The digital version of the 2020 summer magazine is now available on our website. In this issue, Meghan Filbert and Liz Kolbe collaborated on an article about how PFI farmers have rapidly shifted their businesses to serve more customers during a pandemic.

Read "Rising to a Local Foods Challenge" to learn more about how collaboration, safety and adaptability played a role for local food producers.

Join Steve Gabriel for a six-week course on silvopasturing. Learn best principles and practices, and discuss strategies to convert woodlands to silvopasture and plant trees successfully in pasture.

Strategies are needed to offset the cost of cover crops that precede corn while minimizing yield drag and seedling diseases and maximizing cover crop benefits.

The objective of this research was to evaluate the effects of the proposed cover crop management strategies on corn crop success and cover crop performance.
Practical Farmers is partnering with Farm Aid and Iowa Farmers Union to provide a limited amount of one-time $500 emergency relief payments to farm families. We are excited to report that Ceres Trust just pledged $25,000 to help support more farmers with these relief payments!

Awards are intended as emergency relief for farmers and their families. Use of the funds is restricted to household expenses, such as groceries, home utilities, medical bills, counseling or other household expenses not directly related to the commercial operation of the farm or ranch.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed weekly until funds run out. Learn more and apply here.
We've discounted several Practical Farmers of Iowa shirts to 40% off in our online store – that's just $9 a shirt!

Supplies are going fast! Get a discounted PFI shirt while you can.
