Equipping farmers to build resilient farms and communities.
When Rose and Mike Roelf purchased 45 acres of farmland near Iowa City, Iowa, from Rose’s mother in 2014, they had a vision: to repair the land, rebuild the soil, address food insecurity and create land access for a new generation of community-conscious farmers.

The couple’s commitment to land access, conservation and long-term sustainability – as well as the thoughtful planning Rose and Mike have engaged in to guide their decision-making – led to their selection by PFI’s board of directors as the 2021 recipients of the Farmland Owner Legacy Award.

Do you want to work with the PFI team and agricultural stakeholders across the Midwest to create more resilient farming systems? Apply today to our strategic initiatives coordinator position!

The strategic initiatives team works creatively to build collaborative connections between the private and public sectors that accomplish the goals of our farmer members on the broader Iowa and Midwestern landscape.
Join other row crop and livestock farmers for the Cover Crop Boot Camp, Tuesday, Nov. 30 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

We’ll hear how farmers are working with cover crops to reduce nitrogen and herbicide inputs, growing their own cover crop seed and incorporating their cover crops with livestock.

Come advance your understanding of how cover crops can work for you. This event is FREE, with registration required for lunch.
