Power Inn Alliance Partners with Sacramento Inclusive Economic Development Collaborative to Conduct Business Outreach
July 20, 2022
This spring, the Power Inn Alliance (PIA) partnered with the Sacramento Asian Chamber of Commerce (SACC) to launch a pilot program to assist small businesses within the district. The SACC secured a $3.5 million American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) contract from the City of Sacramento and is now working with many Property Business and Improvement Districts (PBIDs) within the city to conduct business visits.

A few years ago, SACC formed the Sacramento Inclusive Economic Development Collaborative (Sac IEDC) to provide technical assistance to small businesses, particularly minority owned, focusing on the Sacramento PBIDs. During the pandemic, the primary goal has been to help business owners learn about available grants and assistance with applying for those programs. One of the unique services offered is the in-language option, which includes Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, and others, as needed.
The Business Community Liaison dedicated to conducting business visits within the PIA district is Amparo Walker. Amaparo was a small business owner for 23 years in Northern California, and she personally knows the complexities of growing a successful business. The empowerment and growth of businesses resonates with Amparo’s heart, and she remains passionate about helping small businesses. Amparo spends several days a week out in the district, trying to connect with and meet small businesses and learn about issues affecting them. Should you catch a glimpse of her near your business, just know she is there to check in with you and provide you with information and resources for your success.
