Welcome Back! |
|
Welcome back to a new school year at Ormondale and Corte Madera! We hope you had a fun and relaxing summer.
The PTO has many fantastic programs and activities planned this year. We will start the fall off with the Welcome-Back Coffees, BBQ's, 4/5 Cocoa Breakfasts, Photo Days and Book Fairs, just to name a few. Please look at our website,
www.pvpto.com, for current news, CMS After School Athletics registration/payment, and a wealth of information.
We want to thank all the parents who have already committed to lead one of our many programs and hope that more parents will become involved throughout the year. Please stop by the
CMS Welcome-Back Coffee on Monday at 7:30 am and/or the ORM Welcome-Back Coffee at 7:45 am. There will be PTO members at both sites to answer any questions you may have and explain our many volunteer opportunities.
PTO donations help fund over 30 PTO programs and services.
We look forward to seeing you Monday morning and hearing from you throughout the year. Any ideas, feedback or questions are always welcome.
Sincerely,

Seeking cover art for the Portola Valley Schools Student Directory
We'd like to feature the work of an up-and-coming local
artist on the cover of this year's Directory. We are inviting Ormondale and Corte Madera Students, from rising kindergartners through emerging eighth-graders, to send in their cover designs.
We'll choose one to be this year's cover. The winner's family will receive a complimentary copy of the directory, suitable for autographing.
The cover format is standard letter size, 8.5" x 11", portrait orientation, in color.
Please include the
artist's name, grade level for the upcoming school year, and parent's name.
Thank you!

Art in Action needs Volunteers
|
|
Help with Art in Action for Your Child's Classroom!
Do you like paint and getting messy with kids? Do you like to talk about art and hear the unfiltered art critique that only a child can provide? Lessons based on an art masterpiece typically occur on a monthly basis and can be taught by a teacher and parent working together, or by one parent working with helpers (so you can easily sign-up to be a helper!). The children look at an art masterpiece, learn about the artist and how the piece was made, and then create their own masterpieces. A detailed lesson plan and an amazing website with videos and tutorials are available to assist in preparing. No experience necessary. This is a great program to become involved with as it carries through all 4 years, teachers really appreciate any level of help with the art lessons and the kids LOVE it!!!!!
A fun group of existing volunteers is already in place and the more the better! To get involved, or gather more information, you may contact Gaja Frampton (
gajawo@yahoo.com) or Sarah Vincenzo (
mcvicksp@gmail.com) or speak with your teacher directly.

New Family Welcome Events
|
|
A big thank you to Sarah Dorahy and Lisa Giblin Freccia for coordinating multiple New Family Welcome events over the past two weeks for our new students and their parents.
Two get togethers were held at Town Center where new and established families came together to welcome our new students and their parents. In addition, thank you to those of you who reached out individually to meet up with these families and to introduce the new students to your children. This is a wonderful tradition we have in Portola Valley. Thank you for all who participated!

For the U5/U6 divisions: Practices are scheduled for Wednesdays at either 12:30 pm or 4 pm at Ormondale, and Fridays at 4:30 pm at Woodside Elementary School. U5/U6 has one practice once per week, but no weekend games.
