Port terminal rail ribbon cutting
The first train has rolled onto the newly completed rail line at the Port of Kansas City - Woodswether Terminal! Port KC celebrated the port terminal rail ribbon cutting on June 9, 2017, along with city officials, state legislators and Union Pacific representatives.

The rail adds to the existing multimodal connections at the port, which include close proximity to major railroad yards, highways, the Missouri River, West Bottoms industrial area and downtown Kansas City. The rebirth of rail traffic at the port terminal will provide small to medium size businesses the opportunity to take advantage of cheaper rail transport rates without the expensive capital investment of rail infrastructure. The port operator, Kaw Valley Companies, will provide transloading and storage services for Port KC.

Connect with Berkley Riverfront Park

Public explores options for Riverfront Streetcar extension

The KC Streetcar could be one step closer to making its first stop at Berkley Riverfront. Preliminary findings from the Riverfront Extension and Multimodal Feasibility Study were presented at an open house on May 31, 2017. The study analyzed several route possibilities with close attention to cost, safety, usability and ongoing expansion opportunities. The line would further connect Kansas City and allow greater accessibility for residents, businesses and visitors to enjoy park amenities, continuing development projects and the scenic greenspace on the Missouri Riverfront. The public viewed the proposed routes, asked questions and provided comments and suggestions.
