Pools | Coming Soon | Follow Along
It's so nice these days we think we'll stay outside. Poolside, preferably. Even though it's too chilly to swim just yet, we have no problem starring at a cold pool. Anticipation is half the fun.

AWARD-WINNING HUTNER POOL + PORCH

We received four design awards for our work on the now famous Hutner Pool + Porch. We have a lot of history with this property. Twenty years after we renovated the 1950s Chevy Chase rambler, we were asked back by the owners to design their retirement present to themselves - a swimming pool and a screened porch. Click the photo above to view more images.
AWARD-WINNING WOODLEY PARK HOUSE + GARDEN

This elegant early 20th century house needed an elegant backyard to go with it. And it has everything; a hot tub in the pool, a fireplace and a terrace that hangs over the pool edge. Dangle your feet on the terrace during spring, cannonballs by summer. We received an AIA Maryland Merit Award for this backyard.
AWARD-WINNING THE COOK AND THE ARTIST

Our clients, a Cook and an Artist, wanted a courtyard in the woods. They just needed privacy from the deer. The courtyard includes a pool with inset hot tub, a protected garden, screened porch, and a shed for housing pool equipment and pool toys. They can still view the wondrous natural landscape from the pool deck.

TINY 'POOL'

This is a tiny “pool" for reflecting not swimming. It's also one of the first things you see when walking up to the house. Sometimes, you only need to look at water to feel better.

MEADOW HOUSE WITH TWO POOLS

Dark pools reflect their surroundings, which is why we often use them in wooded locations. This renovation required two pools, a black plaster swimming pool below a fifty-foot-long black slate reflecting pool. Stacked stone walls form the edge of this pool terrace. A screened porch pavilion provides a protected outdoor room perched on the edge of these two minimal negative-edge pools, which, viewed from above, appear as one, reflecting the sky and landscape beyond.

POOL WITH MOUNTAIN VIEWS

This pool is perched in the mountains, above the tree line. There is constant sun. A roof cut out aligns with the pool edges to provide options for shade or sun as the day progresses along.
POOL WITH A BRIDGE OVER CALM WATERS

Sometimes a practical thing turns out to be quite whimsical. If your pool is between your backyard and your patio - build a bridge.
