Schedule Changes, Increased Hours at RA Pools

Several RA pools will see increased hours through the remainder of the pool season.

Shadowood Pool will now be open until Sunday, August 18; hours will be 11 a.m.-7 p.m. every day except Tuesday when the pool is closed.

Lake Thoreau Pool will also see some schedule changes for Season 3 on Wednesdays and Fridays; hours will now be 6-9 a.m. fitness hours, 12-6 p.m. open hours, and 6-9 p.m. fitness hours. All other hours will remain as previously scheduled. For Season 4, Lake Thoreau will be open Mon-Fri 4-7 p.m. for open swim and 7-9 p.m. for fitness. Weekend hours will remain as previously scheduled.

Bobcats, Backhoes, Buses and More at Totally Trucks

Is your child in awe of big trucks and buses? Here’s a chance for them to safely see them up close. Join RA for its annual “Totally Trucks” event on Friday, August 2 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at RA’s Central Services Facility (12250 Sunset Hills Road), where kids can wander among the many different big vehicles RA uses to maintain the community, plus some “special guest vehicles.” We’ll have everything from a Bobcat, backhoe and dump truck to a police car, Fairfax Connector bus, and many more. Kids will even receive their own “Totally Trucks” construction helmet! The event is free, and no registration is required. This is one of our most popular children’s events and has been an annual event for over 20 years! Learn more about Totally Trucks on our website.

Cardboard Boat Regatta Sets Sail on Lake Anne

It’s an annual event not to be missed! Reston Association is proud to sponsor (and participate in) this year’s popular Cardboard Boat Regatta. This event, hosted by Reston Museum, will take place on Lake Anne on Saturday, August 10 beginning at noon. The Regatta brings together residents, businesses, and visitors across the metro area as spectators cheer on their favorite boats. Participating teams of all ages will construct and decorate their life-size cardboard boats. These boats will then take to the water in timed heats with team members rowing out to a designated buoy and back to the docks at Lake Anne Plaza. Will the RA boat be victorious? RA Playground Renovations: We Want Your Ideas

Reston Association is currently planning for the scheduled renovations of three playgrounds. Colts Brook, Sanibel and Purple Beeches playgrounds are all scheduled for improvements later this year, and we want to hear from you! What do you and your children value most about the playground? What would you like to see added or changed? Please take the survey to give your feedback. It will be instrumental as we move forward in selecting materials and designs.

Now Open: Vendor Table Registration for RA Community Yard Sale

Are you looking for an excuse to clean out those closets or the basement? How about a chance to make some cash and support one of RA’s biggest events? The Reston Association Community Yard Sale is now accepting vendor applications for the fall sale, which will take place on Saturday, September 28 at Halley Rise (across from Wegmans) on Sunrise Valley Drive.
