Pondering LOVE … what does LOVE ask of us?
Every year we either enjoy or we dread Valentine’s Day. Which is it for you? We know in our heart of hearts that LOVE is not just receiving a sweet box of chocolates or a bouquet of red roses. It's not enough to hear the words "I love you" only on February 14th.
LOVE is so much MORE than just saying the words. Love is a lifetime of learning and growing, of giving and receiving & of putting others before self.
To truly LOVE is perhaps the hardest and most rewarding work in life!
I’ve been thinking ... true LOVE asks a lot of us!
Love asks us to be open and honest
Love asks us to be attentive listeners
Love asks us to be available
Love asks us to judge not
Love asks us to consider our own flaws & weaknesses
Love asks us to treat others with respect
Love asks us to put ourselves in someone else’s shoes
Love asks us to understand rather than be understood
Love asks us to be patient with the impatient
Love asks us to be kind to the unkind
Love asks us to keep no record of wrongs
Love asks us to give grace generously
Love asks us to forgive 70 X 7
Love asks us to keep on loving even when its hard ... with God’s help
Love invites us to receive God’s perfect LOVE
and then let it overflow to those around us!
