New Mask Policy at Clinic

Beginning today, January 28th, 2021, we are implementing the following policy at the clinic for your safety:

EVERYONE WILL BE REQUIRED TO DOUBLE MASK DURING TREATMENTS.*

*unless you are wearing a KN95 Mask
*we will have surgical masks available to offer to you, free of charge

Please know that we do this to ensure the safety of everyone coming to the clinic.

As has been true since the beginning of this pandemic, our understanding of how the virus spreads, continues to evolve. And as it evolves, so must we, with our behaviors, precautions and choices.

It is now being widely recognized, by Dr. Anthony Fauci as well as other experts and leading scientists, that one mask, particularly a surgical mask or cloth mask, doesn't offer sufficient protection, during this stage of the pandemic, with high case numbers and the discovery of variants that spread more rapidly.

None of us likes wearing one mask, much less two!! At least I haven't met anyone who enjoys wearing them... have you? But we are asking that you take these extra steps, if you aren't already, at least until we get thru this phase of the pandemic.

The problem with the cloth and surgical masks is that most of them don't fit the face very snugly. I think we've all seen people wearing the masks that are falling off or with big gaps, or even bought one yourself that you discovered doesn't fit all that well. Wearing the two together however, does add significant protection, to both you and the people around you.

What Can I Expect When I Come for my Treatment?

If you are already double-masked, or wearing a KN95 Mask,* you are all set! We will proceed as usual.

*The KN95 masks, which Anne Louise and I have been wearing since we reopened, are far more form-fitting and thus are able to offer a greater amount of protection than either of the other two types of masks commonly available. You can now find KN95 masks available for purchase, but be aware that there are knock-off versions being sold that do not work as well. Look to see that the mask you purchase is FDA-approved. While these masks are more expensive, if you are just wearing them when you come to appointments or out at stores, you can reuse your mask if you store it safely, like in its own bag.

If you are wearing a cloth or surgical mask, we will give you a surgical mask, and ask that you wear it during your session. It is recommended to wear the surgical mask under the cloth mask. Please feel free to take it with you, or dispose of properly, after you have left the treatment room.

We ask that everyone comply with this added precautionary measure, until COVID-19 cases are consistently on a downward trend, and vaccines have been more widely distributed, as we work towards building a greater level of herd immunity.

Do it for yourself, and do it for your loved ones.

Let's work together to keep our community safe!

Thank you so much,

Rachel & Anne Louise
