Following this moment of despair, Gabriel found a lifeline at 3rd Street’s LowerPolk TAY Navigation Center. With access to skilled clinicians and the dedicated support of his case manager, Sherone, Gabriel started to rebuild his life piece by piece. He enrolled in City College of San Francisco and secured a job, steps that seemed unachievable in the darkest moments of his past.
Then came what he described as a “transformative moment” – Gabriel received a housing voucher through 3rd Street, which provided him with a stable, secure place to call home. This change was more than just a physical move; it was as if a door had finally been unlocked for him, guiding him into a future filled with possibilities. Now, in his own apartment, closer to school and transportation, Gabriel can focus on his education. He wants to double major and become a doctor specializing in psychiatry.
Gabriel reflects, "I’ve struggled most of my life. Now I don’t have to worry about where I’m going to live - it’s such a blessing."
