Storm Recovery

Storm Debris Map Is Active

The City of Plano is actively working on collecting storm debris from the recent severe weather. Residents can view the status of collections in their neighborhoods through the Residential Debris Sweep map online

How to read the map: areas highlighted in yellow have completed the first stage of debris cleanup but have not had the second sweep. Once an area is highlighted in green, all debris collection has been completed. Areas without a highlighted color have not been swept yet.

If you live in an area marked yellow but still have debris, please leave your debris at the collection point to be collected on the second sweep.

Volunteer to Help with Recovery

The City of Plano is looking for volunteers to help with recovery efforts after the May 28 storm. Many residents are struggling with fallen trees and branches.

Volunteers will help with tree trimming, removing hanging branches and stacking storm debris for collection. You must be 18 years and older to volunteer. Tools and equipment will be provided for volunteer use. Sign up for a Storm Recovery Work Day.

Parker Road Concrete Repairs Approved

City Council members sit in a U-shape with a podium at the opening.

The following items were approved as part of the Consent Agenda during the Monday, June 10, 2024 City Council meeting:

Concrete repairs continue on Parker Road

A 1.5-mile stretch of Parker Road, from Independence Parkway to Country Place Drive, will be repaired soon. The project includes street and sidewalk repairs and the installation of barrier-free ramps. Work is expected to begin in July 2024. The project is funded as part of the 2023-2024 Street Improvements Community Investment Program. Council approved $3,328,000 for the work.

Parking restrictions established on Kimbrough Lane

A no-parking zone has been established along the north side of Kimbrough Lane. Vehicles parked along the north side of the street impede the flow of traffic and create sight distance issues for motorists entering the street from side streets.

New screening walls coming to Willow Bend Estates

Screening walls will be replaced in Willow Bend Estates. Maintenance and replacement of deteriorating neighborhood screening walls are funded as part of the 2023-2024 Street Improvements Community Investment Program. Council approved $3,639,653 for the removal and replacement of approximately 4,495 linear feet of brick screening walls.

The next regular City Council meeting on Monday, June 24 begins at 7 pm at Davis Library, 7501-B Independence Pkwy. The agenda is available after 5 pm on the Wednesday before the meeting. Sign up to speak on an item by the 4 pm deadline on the day of the meeting. Onsite registration is not available. Go to Plano.gov/Agenda for the meeting signup link.

Submit Your Pups Photo

We love your pups, but not their poo. Pet waste pollutes yards, parks, trails and sidewalks. When it isn’t picked up, it can contaminate creeks, streams and drinking water sources. If you’re a dog owner, be a good steward. Please “doo” the right thing by picking up pet waste and putting it in the trash.

Show your dedication to “doo-ing” the right thing by entering our photo contest! Submit your favorite photo of your precious pup by Friday, June 21.

Vote for the top photos on the Live Green in Plano Facebook page from Friday, June 28 through Sunday, July 14. Encourage your friends and family to vote by “liking” your photo and follow the Facebook page. Winners will be featured in upcoming Live Green in Plano outreach and their humans will receive cool prizes too!
