Friends,

I'm pleased to follow last week's news about the Independent Party's support with another important announcement: for the second time, Planned Parenthood Votes Connecticut! has endorsed my candidacy.

I am proud to stand with Planned Parenthood in the fight for reproductive freedom.

As a mom to four daughters and a former patient escort at Planned Parenthood in Stamford, guaranteeing safe and accessible women’s healthcare is personal for me. Planned Parenthood’s endorsement is a badge of honor and a vote of confidence from one of the leading organizations voters trust when it comes to identifying the candidates who will defend reproductive rights.

Since the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision in 2022 ending the federal constitutional right to abortion, protecting women’s access to reproductive care has fallen on state legislatures around the country. Twenty-two states have now banned or severely restricted abortion care.

In 2022, Connecticut legislators took urgent action by passing the Reproductive Freedom Defense Act – a law that Planned Parenthood Votes CT describes as “the most significant abortion rights legislation in a generation.” That law improves abortion access in Connecticut, strengthens legal protections for healthcare providers, and shields patient privacy.

I support this landmark legislation. In contrast, my opponent Tina Courpas has written that she opposes that law.

Just look at my record

Since taking office, I have voted to further expand protections for reproductive healthcare providers, allowing pharmacists to prescribe emergency contraceptives, directing state colleges to provide reproductive health resources to students, improving access to fertility treatment and expanding Medicaid coverage for long-term contraceptives.

If re-elected, you can count on me to remain steadfast in the fight for reproductive rights.

All my best,
