Distribution Check-In Training

We are working on a new neighbor intake system at our mobile distributions and we need more folks to help with check-in at the sites, starting in late August and September. This is part of a larger PFB initiative called Service Insights, which is a Feeding America project aimed at helping food banks better study and understand food accessibility in their service areas to modify services to meet more specific needs. Click here to learn more about the opportunity, the project, and to let us know you’re interested! If you “respond” to the linked opportunity, our Service Insights Coordinator, Jeremiah, will reach out with info about upcoming trainings!

Driver Assistant Needed for Tuesday Mornings

We need a ride-along helper for one of our truck drivers to assist with loading and unloading donated food from some of our grocery partners. Requirements are:

  • Able to see, hear, speak English, sit, stand, bend, lift up to 45lbs, follow safety policies, and safely maneuver around busy loading docks.
  • Available from 6am-12pm on Tuesday mornings on a fairly regular basis – we could also have several people who each take one or two Tuesdays each month.

If this sounds like you, please email our Transportation Coordinator, Darin, at darin@placerfoodbank.org

Calendar Updates

September's schedule will be posted by the end of next week! We typically see a significant drop-off in sign-ups in September and October as our wonderful students head back to school. If you are available during the daytime, please sign up for a couple of shifts to help offset this drop in our volunteer workforce! Keep an eye on our Urgent Needs page as well for shifts that need a few more folks.

CAI Community Service Committee

A group of 18 employees from Caliber Collision came to PFB for the first time to volunteer on July 11th. Caliber Collision is the largest automotive collision repair company in the United States with over 40 locations in the greater Sacramento area. They are committed to being the automotive repair facility of choice in every community they serve and to serve the community in every way that they can. We are so grateful that they decided to help out those in our communities who need food assistance by packing produce with us for the following day’s mobile distribution in Sheridan. Thank you Caliber Collision! We look forward to seeing you at the warehouse again!
