Sharing Recent Organizational Highlights

Letter From our CEO

Dear Friends and Families,

I am filled with immense gratitude and pride for all we have accomplished together these past few months. It is a testament to the strength and unity of our Pioneer Center community, and I am thrilled to share some of our recent highlights with you.

We have seen an incredible participation in our programs and events for each of pillars - Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD), Behavioral Health (BH) and Homeless Services (HS/PADS), all aimed at furthering our mission of Helping People Live a Dignified Life of Well-Being, Independence and Inclusion. From the launch of our IDD (Professional Readiness Employment Program) PREP Program to our Charity Golf Outing, the enthusiasm and dedication of our supporters, volunteers, and staff have been truly inspiring. Construction Projects: Updating Central Campus

We are continuing to work on renovating our Intellectual & Developental Disabilities (IDD) Dayton Campus Central location. We have already completed updating the client lounge, installing new windows/floors, adding a printer room for the nursing office and building a new vestibule for the entry area.

Our focus is now on completing the entry and waiting area, office space, the Sensory Garden and additional furnishings for the client lounge.

This project is not just about updating the building: it is about creating a space where our clients can thrive, and lives can be transformed. Stay tuned for more pictures once the construction is complete.

If you would like to make a gift towards this project, please donate on our website or contact Jody Beckford at (815) 759-7144.

Happy Birthday!

Clients with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and staff at our Marengo Group Home celebrated, Joanne's 80th and Cheri's 68th birthday. They decorated the house with birthday decorations, made a homemade birthday cake. played games and enjoyed karaoke to their favorite 80's music.

Although individuals with disabilities have a higher risk of developing chronic health conditions, recent studies are showing many people with disabilities, living in a community setting, are living a much longer lifespan.

Pioneer Center is always looking for new ways to expand and provide services to a growing number of people in the community with IDD who are aging and will need more services and supports to maintain their health.

If you would like more information about our group homes or other programs, please email: ddadmissions@pioneercenter.org.

Behavioral Health Creates Inviting Rooms for Clients

Therapist and Case Managers have created specially designed sensory rooms and a group room at the Child & Family Therapy Center in Woodstock, IL.

The Group Room is a dedicated space to facilitate group therapy sessions and collaborative activities. The room has been arranged to create an inviting and inclusive atmosphere, featuring comfortable seating arranged in a semi-circle to encourage open communication and interaction among clients.

We designed sensory rooms aimed at providing a calming and stimulating environment for our clients to utilize during their sessions. The rooms utilize various sensory tools and equipment including: weighted blankets, weighted stuffed animals, soft lighting, a sensory wall, sound machines, a body sock, zones of regulation, and posters of yoga postures to help our clients regulate their sensory input. This space allows for therapeutic interventions that promotes relaxation, focus, and emotional well-being.

If you would like more information on our programs and services, please reach out to Pioneer Center’s Behavioral Health referral line at 815-759-7073.
