Federal Leadership Tour Brings Fresh Insight and Opportunity to Tampa Bay

Last month, a contingent of senior U.S. Government leadership representing the Departments of State, Commerce and Homeland Security conducted a multi-city tour of Florida. The tour made a stop in the Tampa Bay area to meet with officials from local city and county governments, tourism, economic development, ports, airports, and others. PCED’s Brent Barkway, Economic Development Manager, orchestrated the meeting along with his Global Tampa Bay partners from Hillsborough and Pasco Counties. Barkway reports that, “We engaged in some very productive discussions about visa services, breaking out of the Washington, D.C. bubble, regional trends tied to international visitor processing, economic development, and the impact of travel and tourism on local economies. Valuable connections and communications were made through this activity that will enhance our ability to better serve the needs of businesses in Pinellas County and the greater Tampa Bay area.”
