Pinal County Animal Care & Control has been dealing with an ongoing space crisis with a 100+ dog hoarding case. The shelter is over-capacitated with double the amount of dogs the shelter was built to care for. Despite this, PCACC has been doing its best to get animals out of the shelter and make room for incoming strays, surrenders, and dogs from the hoarding case.
While the shelter works on making space for the influx of dogs, Animal Protection Officers (APOs) are working with the dog owner, who quickly got overwhelmed when his dogs started reproducing. APOs are ensuring the dogs that remain on the property until they can come into the shelter are being cared for.
Here are ways to help the abundance of animals in PCACC care:
-
Volunteer - The shelter team needs all the help they can get to ensure the shelter dogs get their daily time out of the kennels for walks or yard time. Additional help is needed with cleaning and organizing around the shelter.
-
Foster - Fostering helps create kennel space at the shelter and helps animals destress and get adopted!
-
Donate - The shelter is always in need of blankets, dog food, cat food, cat litter, and dog treats.
