Accessing behavioral health care shouldn't be overwhelming

Navigating the complex and sometimes confusing healthcare system can be challenging. That's why Pinellas County Human Services created Care About Me: Pinellas County's new access line for mental health, substance use and addiction services.

Care About Me eliminates the guesswork of searching for local services by creating a space where residents or family members of individuals in non-crisis can call, text or chat in, confidentially speak with an experienced behavioral health specialist who can triage their needs, and get an appointment scheduled with a local provider.

If you need help and support, but you’re not sure where to go, call or text 1-888-431-1998 and we’ll connect you with the services you need.

Get a lush lawn with less water - find out how

With the Southwest Florida Water Management District extending watering restrictions across Tampa Bay through Sept. 1, now is a great time to learn how you can cultivate a healthy Florida landscape with a lot less water than you might think. Hear how one resident has cut his water use down by 75% and tips on how to help your lawn get deep roots in this edition of Discovering Pinellas.

Anyone can fall victim to a scam; Consumer Protection is here to help

Pinellas County Consumer Protection’s investigation into two individuals who defrauded consumers across the United States recently led to criminal charges and over $1 million in restitution for their victims. Our team has several tips to help you avoid becoming the victim of this type of fraud. You can also avoid unwanted telemarketing calls by registering your home and cell phone numbers free of charge through the Florida Do Not Call List or the National Do Not Call Registry.

Check out our new dog kennel upgrades

The first kennel upgrades are done and the dogs are enjoying their new temporary home! Watch this video to get a dog's eye view of the new digs. Construction now moves to our other two buildings, so space is still tight. Help us keep the shelters as empty as possible and give a dog or cat a forever home with you now!

Keep the mosquitoes away this summer

With the arrival of rainy season, Pinellas County's mosquito control team is aggressively working to treat and prevent mosquitoes, but keeping them at bay is a community effort. One of the best ways to protect your house is to dump standing water that pools in things like bird baths, toys and flowerpots to prevent breeding. Learn more about how to protect yourself this summer now!
