CULINARY PERIGORD TOUR BY CHEF DIDIER

2024 will be my fifth Culinary Tour and every year, I add a few more interesting areas and things for you to discover. Daily trips may have added activities and surprises, which is a good thing. 


The price and itinerary include all of the following: 10 days of hotel accommodations, all breakfasts, and all meals are 3 to 4-course meals, with choices.


(All 7 luncheons, 5 dinners, all accompanied with wines & beers, coffee, etc, sometimes aperitifs too, only 4 evenings will be at your leisure). The tour also includes all bus travel, entrance, and tickets to daily activities (see activities below). All daily travels (from Friday, March 1st to Sunday, March 10) are with a 44-seat Deluxe A/C and Heated Motor Coach. Every new day is more enticing than yesterday!!!


The discounted cost is $2975.00 (normally $3400) all taxes included, per guest, twin occupancy. Single occupancy is available at $395 additional. (That price does not include the airfare from the United States to Paris, nor the train tickets for Paris to Bordeaux and Bordeaux to Paris. Take the TGV, the Fast Speed Train, which takes about a couple of hours from Paris.


Friday, March 1st Meet Chef Didier in Bordeaux, at La “Tavern du Midi Restaurant” across from Train Station Gare Saint Jean around 2:30 pm. La Taverne du Midi - Restaurant in Bordeaux. If you arrive early, have a bowl of fresh mussels with a Stella Artois or espresso, I probably will be there myself, if you are late, the bus and I will wait for you. Friday, March 1st –The tour begins:

Leaving Bordeaux, with the bus, going to a 3-star Hotel, in Sarlat-La-Caneda, where we will stay for 3 nights as we visit that area.

Stop at Les Eyzies to see the Cro-Magnon Man (Les Eyzies-de-Tayac) Welcome dinner at a Sarlat Restaurant

Back to the Hotel (across the street from the restaurant)


Saturday, March 2nd:

Breakfast at the Hotel in Sarlat

Taking our Deluxe, a/c & heated bus (the same bus for the whole trip, Mr. Abdel, he is wonderful!! ) to the town of Les Eyzies

Visit "Le Gouffre de Proumeyssac," called "The Cristal Cathedral", near the town of Rocamadour. The most famous cave in Europe and the most interesting geological site, with stalagmites and stalactites

Visit the 100-year-old Magnificent Gardens of Marqueyssac

Lunch: Restaurant : Restaurant Le Tourne Pique in Castelnaud

Visit Chateau Des Milandes and the life of Josephine Baker

Visit the surrounding Gardens and the many Falcons and Birds of Prey Dinner downtown Sarlat

Sunday, March 3rd:

Breakfast at the Hotel in Sarlat

Visit the town of Sarlat and its market. The special whole day, you are on your own, along with hundreds of others in the village of Sarlat. where the annual Fest Oie is happening, attended by worldwide gourmets. From Dawn to dusk, enjoy many food stalls with many Duck and Goose delicacies paired with wonderful local wines, beers, and spirits. Sing or dance along with everyone in the streets. The whole day is at your leisure. But after that wonderful day, we will meet up at 6 pm at a local Café and exchange stories about the local delicacies! Chef is buying beer for all of us!

Come back to our hotel when you wish! There is a wonderful Cathedral (Mass at 10 am).

Monday, March 4th:

Breakfast at the Hotel in Sarlat.

Check out of this Hotel.

We are taking the bus to visit the Lascaux IV Caves, world known and unique opportunity to explore primitive paintings from 20,000 years ago

Lunch at La Laugerie Basse Les Eysies de Tayac

Visit “Maison Forte de Reignac” a Castle built inside a massive rock, a mysterious secret from the 14th century.

Going to a new 4-star hotel in Perigeux for 2 nights. Arrive at 5 pm.

Visit a store where to buy seeds at Jardiland and beluga caviar lentils at Bio Cop

Stop at a ceramic and porcelain store

Dinner at a local Restaurant in Perigueux

Back at the Hotel in Perigueux


Tuesday, March 5th:

Breakfast at the Hotel in Perigueux

Hunting and visiting a truffle farm, we will unearth fresh truffles with Loris, the specialized Doggy. Option to bring some truffles back to the States! Mensignac: Truffle farm

Lunch at a Restaurant in Perigueux.

Class on Foie Gras, that Chef will lead.

Visit the Most beautiful cathedral in Perigueux, its roof & its spectacular view of the city.

Back to the hotel at 4 pm

Wednesday, March 6th:

Breakfast at the Hotel in Perigueux

Checking out from this hotel, and going to a hotel in Bergerac for two nights.

Visit the local 3 different local farmers' markets around the Cathedral in Perigeux medieval town Lunch in the old town of Périgueux

Arriving at 7 pm at a new hotel, 3 stars, in Bergerac.

Dinner at the local restaurant along The Dordogne River.


Thursday, March 7th:

Breakfast at the Hotel in Bergerac

Lunch in Monbazillac where Chef trained during his cooking school (La Grappe d'Or).

IVBD (Interprofession of Bergerac and Duras Wines) wine tasting where we will understand more about winemaking.

Back to the Hotel in Bergerac.

Dinner at your leisure.

Friday, March 8th:

Breakfast at the Hotel in Bergerac.

Lecture of the two Cyrano’s De Bergerac Statues by a local guide.

Visit and degustation of the wines of Chateau Haut Sarthes,

followed by lunch. This is the only Bergerac available in Chicago at all Binny’s.

Visit of underground Saint Emilion, its collegiate church, and its cloister.

Cooking class (with Master Chef Michael GUEDJ): Hangar 18, 3 Cr Edouard Vaillant, 33300 Bordeaux

Arrive at Bordeaux Hotel at 6:00 pm

Going to a 4-star hotel in Bordeaux for two nights, close to the train station so we can go back to Paris on Sunday easily, or just stay in town.

Evening at your leisure.

Morning at your leisure, the hotel is two blocks away from the train station, so you can easily walk from the hotel to take the TGV Train to Paris. Visit several Bordeaux Farmers & Antiques Markets if desired.
