Chase Huna and I are working on a new CD. It's a five-song EP called Pennies from Heaven.
I'm sure some of you Slim Folks are saying to yourselves, "Didn't Mr. Man just release a CD last year?
Well, yes I did. But releasing an album every year is not unusual. Is it?
Well, that got me thinking and that's a bit challenging for me because of my ailment...
Attention Surplus Syndrome.
You know the acronym.
ASS is the opposite of ADD. I think about things for too long...
And as my ASS kicked into high gear, I started thinking, how often should you release an album? Once a year? Every other year?
Well, let's take a look at a band called The Beatles.
For you young people who may not be familiar with the Beatles, they were the most popular band in the world in the 1960s.
The impact they had was truly amazing. They sold more records than any other band. By far.
So...how often did the Beatles put out an album?
Glad you asked, Slim People! Let's look at their first few US releases...
On January 10, 1964, they released an album called Introducing the Beatles.
Ten days later, they put out an album called Meet the Beatles. So we got introduced to the Beatles and then got to meet them, all in a matter of weeks!
The follow-up to those two releases was an album called The Beatles Second Album. Which was technically their third. Released in April 1964!
Then they put out A Hard Day's Night, the soundtrack to their first movie.
In June of 1964!
And after that, they launched Something New. Released in July 1964!
And then there was Beatles '65, which was actually released in December...
1964.
My math ain't so good, and neither is my English, but I'm pretty sure that's six albums in one year.
So it's not unusual to release a CD every six months or so.
Chase and I have been hard at work in the studio the past few months. And we're trying to get Pennies from Heaven finished, so we've put it up on Kickstarter to raise the rest of the funds.
