From Nickerson Coaching:
Advent and Christmas will soon be upon us. This is a great time to interact with people in our community. Here are a few creative ideas from churches around the country. 1) Relocate a worship service or program to the community. Churches have done carol sings in the park, Christmas Eve services in restaurants and bars, children's Advent activities in community centers. Be creative. 2) One church made up "Blessing Bags", filled with a Christmas ornament, home made goodies and an invitation to a Christmas Eve service. Members then personally delivered them to neighborhoods and connected with people. 3) Go Christmas caroling in a neighborhood you would like to reach. It is one of the times you can knock on doors and be welcomed! Sing a couple of carols, give them a plate of cookies and give them a Christmas blessing. 4) Make up "meals to go" and deliver them on Christmas morning to people who have to work (hotel workers, hospital staff, convenience store employees, etc.) People will really appreciate that you thought on them on Christmas morning. 5) One church even did a wine and painting party at an art studio. Each member invited a friend, painted a Christmas card and then the church reproduced them so each guest had a supply of hand-painted cards! Advent and Christmas is a time when many people are more open to our church. Think of a way you can connect in this Holy season.
