ST. LUKE'S GRADUATION 2024

Congratulations to the St. Luke’s Class of 2024! You did it! This graduation marks the end of your high school journey and the beginning of countless new opportunities and adventures.

We are incredibly proud of each of you. The Class of 2024 has shown outstanding academic excellence, athletic prowess, and artistic creativity. Whether through community service, extracurricular activities, or simply being a supportive friend, your actions have made a difference.

As you embark on the next chapter of your lives, remember that St. Luke’s will always be a part of you. We will miss your presence dearly but are excited to see what the future holds for you. Be sure to carry forward the values and lessons you’ve learned, believe in yourselves, continue to strive for excellence, and never stop reaching for your dreams!

One of the most cherished traditions at St. Luke's is "Passing Through the Gates." In 9th grade, students enter the gates for the first time, signifying the beginning of their high school journey.

Fast-forward to their senior year, and the gates have a new meaning. On graduation day, faculty and staff line up to cheer on the students, a testament to the community's support and pride in their achievements. The president of the student body plays a pivotal role by unlocking the gates, symbolizing the opening of new opportunities and the transition from high school to the wider world.

As the gates swing open, the graduating class walks out in front of a large, supportive crowd. This walk is a farewell to their high school days and a step into their future endeavors.

The cheers, applause, and well-wishes from the crowd encapsulate the pride and encouragement that the St. Luke's community has for its students. This tradition, rich with symbolism and emotion, not only celebrates academic accomplishments but also the personal growth and resilience of each student.

We are immensely proud of you, Wildcats!

ECHOES OF TRADITIONS: THE BELL PARADE FROM JULIUS T. WRIGHT TO ST. LUKE'S & SUMMER SEND-OFF

When the University Campus was the Julius T Wright School for Girls, Mr. Gus Hamner, their headmaster, would walk through the halls ringing his bell. This tradition signaled that the year was officially over and students would exit their classrooms and fall in behind him as they paraded to the Quad for ice cream. Mr. Hamner donated that bell to St. Luke’s with the request that the head of school continue this tradition. In May of 2010, Mr. Palmer Kennedy, did just that. And every year since, with the exception of 2020, because of Covid, we have honored that request.

Mrs. Banks began the parade by the gym and as she passed classrooms, students joined the group being led to the Quad for a summer send-off with popsicles!
