ANNUAL FUND GRADE LEVEL CHALLENGE - MARCH 12-26th!
On March 12-26, we will have our Grade Level Challenge, Leave Your Paw Print. This is an opportunity to help your student’s class have the highest parent participation in the Mother Oak Annual Fund.
Classes with 100% participation (minimum gift of $10) made before March 26th at 3:00 p.m. will be celebrated on March 28th. The lower campus classes with 100% participation will have a popsicle party; on the upper campus, students will have an out-of-uniform day.
Also, if their class is 1st to reach 100% parent participation, the teacher will receive a $100 gift card ($50 for each teacher after that.)
EVERY DONATION MAKES AN IMPACT and all St. Luke’s students benefit from the Annual Fund.
We are challenging every Wildcat to leave their Paw Print!

A NIGHT TO REMEMBER....PROM 2024
Now that the final dance has ended and the music has faded away, students report a great prom experience with lots of laughter, dancing, and unforgettable moments! The memories made during prom season will surely be cherished for years to come!

CARSON CRAFTS MUSICAL HARMONY FOR THE WILDCAT BAND
Carson Dewitt has played piano, accordion, and trombone with the St. Luke’s band for 3 years. He has been diligently working on an arrangement for the band. It takes many hours of listening, focus, and dedication to bring these parts to life. Each part is written with band members from our school in mind. Learning to play music and read music takes many years to master. Carson has taken another step in writing the music how he wants it to sound for our ensemble. We plan to play his arrangement next year for his senior year of marching band. Excellent work, Carson!

YOUTH ART MONTH + ART SHOW AT MATILDA, JR.
St. Luke’s visual arts program is A++++! Mrs. Morrow (lower campus) & Mrs. Cummings (upper campus) have a top-notch visual arts program, a priority at St. Luke’s because of the tremendous value it provides our students. Visual arts help develop many important skills: creativity, self-expression, improved self-esteem, confidence, problem-solving, and empathy. We take great pride in the artwork of our students & love to showcase it!
Mrs. Cummings will showcase some of her students’ artwork this weekend at the spring musical, Matilda, Jr. The art show's theme is “Alter” because Matilda altered her story through reading. The 7th/8th-grade classes made bobbleheads of a character in a story or a person in history who had a positive impact. The Art 1 students altered their self-portraits by turning them into superheroes or villains. The Art 2 and 3 classes created altered books. The Pottery Class altered the surfaces of their pottery with surfaces of their pottery with layering, sgraffito, and bubble glaze techniques! JAEANNA GASTON'S BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES OUTREACH PROJECT ON FLU SHOTS EMPOWERS 6th GRADE
JaeAnna recently completed her Biomedical Sciences Outreach Project with 6th-grade classes.
She gave a presentation about flu shots, explained their importance, and how researchers created a vaccine that protects us against the four most common viruses during flu season.
She explained that even with the vaccine, people can contract the flu, but the symptoms would be far less severe.
After learning about the flu vaccine, the students learned about administering a shot (arm pads and saline bottles were used for learning purposes). JaeAnna explained the steps and safety precautions for administering a shot, finishing with pressure to the injection site and properly capping the needle afterward.
This was such a fun activity for our 6th-grade students to learn from. Great job, JaeAnna!

MARYANNE PRICE HAS AN EXPLOSIVE TIME CASHING IN CASINO NIGHT SILENT AUCTION WIN!
MaryAnne had a wonderful time cashing in her Casino Night Silent Auction win for “Explosive Lunch with Mrs. Thompson.” Of course, Mrs. Thompson made the experience both educational and entertaining through a series of explosive experiments and hands-on activities. With her passion for learning and curiosity about science, MaryAnne was amazed by the magic of science!

STUDENTS EXCEL IN CIVIL ENGINEERING & ARCHITECTURE PROJECT
Update: Civil Engineering & Architecture students finish the roofs on their projects! They first used 3D architectural design software and then built a 3D model. During this process they learned typical techniques and practices, built a common vocabulary related to building components and materials, and became familiar with a variety of framing methods and roof styles.
Seeing our students challenged and learning about civil engineering and architecture is truly inspiring. What a great opportunity for our students to have a deeper understanding of building and design development!

ST. LUKE'S LOWER CAMPUS EXPLORES THE DEPTHS OF STEM(M) WITH UNDERWATER DIY ROV KITS
Our lower-campus students had a great time collaborating to build ROVs (remote-operated vehicles) to maneuver underwater during science lab with Mrs. Thompson! Thank you to the Dauphin Island Sea Lab for providing our underwater robotic kits. We loved using our creative engineering skills to explore the underwater world!

MRS. CUMMINGS DOES IT AGAIN: A SUCCESSFUL LADIES NIGHT OUT FUNDRAISER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS PROGRAM
Mrs. Cummings does it again! She held another fabulous Ladies Night Out, this time painting door hangers! Some of our OUTSTANDING & DEDICATED students assisted Mrs. Cummings with preparation and hosting. We heard the same question as last time, "When are we doing another Ladies Night Out?"The proceeds of this fundraiser benefit the fine arts department.

TRAINER DAVE: THE HEART OF ST. LUKE'S SPORTS MEDICINE PROGRAM
March is National Athletic Training Month & we MUST recognize the best of the best, St. Luke’s very own, “Trainer Dave,” who brings a wealth of knowledge including emergency management, evaluations of injuries, rehabilitation of injuries, and many other areas of healthcare.
Athletic trainers are critical in helping athletes have a healthy and safe sporting experience. They even help educate parents, athletes, and coaches about the risks of injuries, the importance of rest, and proper nutrition and hydration.
Mr. Bentley goes above and beyond to care for St. Luke’s athletes. From concussions and head lacerations to muscle strains and broken bones to sprained toes, he provides top-notch care for our Wildcats!
Our students love taking Mr. Bentley’s Sports Medicine Class, part of our Biomedical Sciences Program. St. Luke’s Sports Medicine class and lab offer the best preparation for students interested in studying sports medicine and athletic or physical training in college. This fully functioning lab contains everything you'll see in your physical therapist's office, and our Wildcats get the benefit of not only learning about the practice, but gaining real world experience in using the equipment!

St. Luke’s cheerleaders are looking forward to leading the crowd in cheering on our Wildcats next year!
