SENIOR HIGHLIGHTS 2024

In the coming weeks leading up to St. Luke's May 18th commencement, we will showcase the remarkable Class of 2024 by celebrating their journey, achievements, and mark on St. Luke’s. We’re celebrating where they’ve been and where they’re headed! Let’s cheer on the Class of 2024 as they transition to the next chapter of their lives, reminding them, “Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat!”

St. Luke’s loves you!

STEM+M AT ST. LUKE'S

Featuring: STEM+M TRAINING & NATIONAL CERTIFICATION

St. Luke’s will soon become the first school south of Birmingham, east of Houston, and north of Tampa to be certified by the National Institute for STEM Excellence. According to a recent National Science Foundation (NSF) article, schools that earn this certification are in an elite group of just over 100 schools worldwide. In addition to the school-wide certification, five of our faculty are working towards their National Certification for STEM Teachers.

It is noteworthy that middle and upper school faculty have enrolled in more Project Lead The Way (PLTW) training this summer. This is in preparation for the Design and Modeling, Aerospace Engineering, and Algebra Advantage classes we are adding. Still, other teachers will attend the Alabama Educational Technology Conference in June.

We are grateful to our incredibly dedicated faculty, who will give up precious hours, days, and weeks this summer to attend these training opportunities. Our students will benefit when they return in the fall because of the new innovative methods, ideas, and knowledge these teachers have gained.

ST. LUKE'S COMMITMENT DAY 2024

St. Luke’s Class of 2024 celebrated Commitment Day this week to represent not just the culmination of years of hard work and dedication but also the exciting transition into the next chapter of their lives. The campus buzzed with energy as seniors, adorned with their new school colors, celebrated with their families with bursts of confetti and the cheerful sounds of noise makers by stepping forward to announce their future plans.

As the confetti settles and the noise makers quiet, we hope the seniors remember the community, support, and love that has propelled each student into their next adventure!

ERUPTING SUCCESS: FOURTH-GRADE VOLCANO PROJECTS

The fourth graders presented their volcano project, a much anticipated annual tradition on the Japonica Campus. Each student showcased their hard work, creativity, and scientific exploration.

K5 STARS SHINE BRIGHT IN PRIME TIME NURSERY RHYME PERFORMANCE

K5 students recently took the stage with a spectacular performance: “Prime Time Nursery Rhymes.” This was a phenomenal revamp of cherished nursery rhymes, ingeniously infused with a fun twist that captivated the audience with their creativity and energy. Their performance was a great reminder of the joy and simplicity found in rhymes of our childhood.

Bravo to the K5 students and their teachers on their amazing performance!

For the first time ever, they clinched the title of area champions, a milestone that has not only marked a turning point for the team but also set a new standard of excellence for the program. They continued their journey with determination, making it to round 2 of the playoffs for the first time in the school’s history. ***Last weekend, St. Luke’s track and field team earned the 2A Section 1 Champions title for the third consecutive year! This remarkable achievement highlights not just the individual talents of the athletes but also their dedication, hard work, and the cohesive effort of the entire team, including the coaches. Their success is not just in winning the title, but in setting new personal records and pushing the boundaries of what they can achieve.

Way to go, Wildcats! Your hard work, determination, and team spirit have paid off, setting a shining example for all.

ELLA BENTLEY IS THE REIGNING CHAMPION OF THE COURTS

St. Luke's sophomore Ella Bentley has once again captured the spotlight by successfully defending her championship title in a remarkable display of skill and determination. Bentley competed in the 1A-3A No. 1 singles tennis championship and showcased her exceptional talents on the court against Indian Springs.

Ella’s journey to this remarkable achievement is a testament to her hard work, dedication, and passion for tennis. It's performances like these that set a high standard for aspiring athletes and serve as a reminder of the rewards that come with perseverance and commitment to one's craft.

The triumph at the 1A-3A No. 1 singles tennis championship is more than just a personal victory for Bentley; it is a proud moment for St. Luke's! Congratulations to Ella on her well-deserved win, and here's to many more successes in her tennis career!
