Hello Michael,
This Santenay is coming from the Premier Cru called Beaurepaire. Beaurepaire is located just above the village of Santenay with a steep slope and southern exposure.
This particular vineyard has such a Southern exposure that it is able to receive direct sunlight nearly all day long which results in a more full bodied Burgundy than we are used to yet retains plenty of structure.
So, the animals shown on the label are dogs. The breed is called Borzoi, also called "Russian Wolfhound", which means "fast" in Russian. Patricia and Alain are proud owners of 2 Borzois and they designed this label so that the dogs will be guardian of the vaulted ageing cellar inside their house.
Tasting Notes:
The wine is showing a great pale yellow color with gold highlights. The nose is very delicate displaying aromas of white blossoms with just a hint of oak. In the mouth, the wine is very soft with a great deal of minerality, superb length and a tangy finish.
Remember, we will store your wine all summer or winter long if needed, free of charge when it is too cold or hot to ship in your area, our area, or anywhere in between!
