Office of the Bishop
Recent and Upcoming Incardinations
On September 13, 2023, a prayer service was held during which Reverend Richard Rosin, a long-time member of the Salesians of Don Bosco and current Parochial Vicar of Espiritu Santo Parish, Safety Harbor, was incardinated into the Diocese of St. Petersburg. The word “incardination” comes from the Latin cardo, which refers to being “hinged” or “attached.” Therefore, Father Rosin is now officially a priest of the Diocese of St. Petersburg.
Also, on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, Reverend Higinio Rosolen, a member of the Institute of the Incarnate Word, will be incardinated into our Diocese, during the annual Convocation for Priestly Renewal, at the Bethany Center. Father Rosolen is a former faculty member of St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary and is currently teaching at Saint Joseph Seminary College, in Saint Benedict, Louisiana. He formerly served as Parochial Vicar of St. Lawrence Parish, Tampa before being transferred to his current assignment.

Special Collections and Parish Missions
For years, the Diocese of St. Petersburg has had a policy prohibiting collections conducted by visiting missionaries, parish mission presenters or other speakers. To view a copy of this policy, please click here.
If you have questions about the policy, please contact Deacon Rick Wells at (727) 341-6832 or by e-mail: rwells@dosp.org.

Clearance of Clergy, Religious and Lay Presenters
Please remember that all priests, deacons, religious women and men, and lay presenters coming from outside the Diocese of St. Petersburg to perform ministry or to offer presentations must first be cleared through the Office of the Chancellor for Canonical Affairs. This includes those who are offering virtual presentations through Zoom and other online options.
Request forms for clearance of speakers can be found on the Office of the Chancellor for Canonical Affairs section of the diocesan website at this link.
In the case of local priests and deacons in active ministry, it is not necessary to complete a Clearance Request Form. This can be verified by checking our diocesan website under this link.
If you have any questions about the suitability of a priest or deacon residing in our diocesan boundaries who is not listed on our diocesan website, please contact the Office of the Chancellor for Canonical Affairs at (727) 341-6832 or by email.
If the invited presenter will not be speaking on topics of faith and morals but rather on non-religious subjects or general topics related to other areas of a school’s curriculum, then the approval should come from the school pastor, the entity’s administrator or, in the case of a school, from the school’s president or principal or from the Superintendent of Catholic Schools.
Thank you for your dedicated ministry to the People of God!
