Chrism Mass
Please mark your calendars for this year’s Chrism Mass, to take place on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, beginning at 11:00 a.m., at the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle, 5815 5th Ave. N., St. Petersburg. Please note the change in the starting time. Most Reverend Gregory L. Parkes, Bishop of St. Petersburg, will be the principal celebrant and homilist.
This year’s Chrism Mass will be open to the public. It will also be broadcast via livestream on our diocesan website at this link beginning at 11:00 a.m. Individual pastors will receive the blessed oils on behalf of their parishes.
As is customary during each year’s Chrism Mass, priests observing their 25th, 40th, 50th, 60th and 65th anniversaries of ordination will be honored. Please note: If you are celebrating one of the aforementioned anniversaries and your name does not appear in the list below, or if you know of a priest in our diocese who should be included on this list, please provide this information to Maria Gonzalez in the Chancellor’s Office. This year’s Marian Congress will be held on Saturday, May 14th, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle, 5815 5th Avenue N., St. Petersburg. During the event, we will explore how to Listen Like Mary with engaging speakers, prayer, and faith sharing. Bishop Gregory Parkes invites you to the Commitment/Renewal Mass of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle, 5815 5th Avenue N., St. Petersburg. Each year, we renew our consecration personally and as a Diocese. If you have never been consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the date to begin your preparation is Monday, April 11th. Saint Leo University Center for Catholic-Jewish Studies Webinar, Tuesday, March 29, 2022
Saint Leo University’s Center for Catholic-Jewish Studies will present the free webinar “Understanding Jesus and Paul Means Understanding Judaism: Pharisees, Prayer, Parable, and Practice,” on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., via Zoom.
Dr. Amy-Jill Levine, a prominent scholar of the New Testament and Jewish studies, will reveal the depth of the Jewish character of the New Testament.
