Dear Friends,
This past Sunday, over 100 people came together to celebrate “A Legacy of Faith,” marking 60 years of a United Methodist presence at 3701 NE 15th Street in Gainesville. For nearly 50 years, this campus was home to the congregation of Faith United Methodist Church. For the past decade, it has served as a missional campus of Trinity, now known as Faith Mission. Sunday’s joy-filled celebration included people from multiple United Methodist Churches in the community (including Bartley Temple, First-Gainesville, and Trinity) as well as people involved in both Circles and Kids Count, two vital ministries that happen on the campus every week. It was a wonderful day of giving thanks for the rich history of ministry on the campus and casting a vision for a bright and hopeful future.
As we look toward that future, today marks a tremendous opportunity to raise awareness and financial support for Faith Mission. For the first time, Faith Mission has been selected to participate in this year’s Amazing Give, an incredible one-day event for non-profit organizations to raise funding in the community. I encourage you to participate in any or all of the following ways:
1) Make a gift to Faith Mission through The Amazing Give.
2) Tell others about Faith Mission and direct them to the website where they can make a gift as well.
3) Share the link on your social media sites.
4) Become a fundraiser on The Amazing Give page for Faith Mission. You can even set up a challenge to encourage others to give as well.
5) Pray for a great day that enables more people to learn about Faith Mission while also raising vital funding for ministry.
While you’re praying, here are a couple of other opportunities for you: pray for three members of our lead staff team (Marisa Gertz, Rebekah Saveland, and Brian Wittstruck), who are in Atlanta this week learning from some churches doing amazing, innovative work with children and youth and their families; also pray for the General Conference of the United Methodist Church, which began in Charlotte, NC yesterday morning and continues through May 3.
I look forward to seeing you Sunday, as we continue our worship series, This We Believe.
Grace and Peace,
Steve
