Beware-Scam Alert

I received this from a neighbor. Please pass the information along.

There is a very professional-sounding man making calls claiming he's a sergeant from the Lake County Sheriff's Department. In my case, he said I was in contempt of court. He made it sound as if I was in serious trouble and had two options: go to the sheriff's office now or post bond. I wasn't about to give him any money but was actually going to go to the Sheriff's office. Then I called the office and was informed it was a scam. Unfortunately, one of our neighbors actually went to the bank and was about to withdraw money when the teller stopped her. She filed a police report."

The guy said there was a "suppression order" (commonly known as a gag order) and that I could be arrested if I spoke to anyone about this. In Ingrid's case, he had his supposed supervisor call her. The number that came up on her phone showed it was from the Lake County Sheriff's Office in Waukegan which made her believe this was real. It's a very sophisticated scam!

Shred Event at Fremont Township June 22

We have scheduled a document shredding event for Saturday, June 22 from 8:30 am til 11:30 am. You will enter through the highway department at 22376 Erhart Road.

You may bring the equivalent of 3 boxes to shred. Staples and paper clips are fine. We will not accept any binders or hanging file folders or electronic items because they catch on fire in the truck.

The most efficient way is to place your items in a paper grocery bag. No plastic bags. To keep the line moving, you will not be able to exit your car and watch the shredding.

This shredding event is for documents only. Please recycle your coupons, magazines and junk mail with your weekly recycling. They will not be accepted.

Pop your trunk and we will take the items. Do not leave your car.

We will not accept any binders or hanging file folders or electronic items because they catch on fire in the truck. If the truck fills up before 11:30, the event will be over.
