Parkinson Association Support Group Updates 

Please join us at our new Support Group for the Recently Diagnosed! The meetings will be held the third Wednesday of the month at 4:00pm at Julia Temple Healthcare Center, Outpatient Services (3401 S. Lafayette St., Englewood).

We are very excited to announce that we have scheduled our first meeting for a South Metro Care Partner Support Group! We will be having the first meeting on Thursday, January 23 from 1:00 - 2:30pm at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, Room B243 (9203 S. University Blvd., Highlands Ranch, CO 80126); subsequent meetings will be held the fourth Thursday of the month.

Join us for the first meeting of the Castle Rock Support Group! The first group meeting will be held Saturday, January 25 from 10:00am - noon at Castle Rock Adventist Hospital, Greenwood Room (2350 Meadows Blvd., Castle Rock, CO 80109); subsequent meetings will be held the fourth Saturday of the month. This group is open to both people with Parkinson's and their care partners.

NEW - Carbondale Support Group
A new support group has started in Carbondale on a trial basis. Group meetings will be held the 3rd Monday of the month from 2:00 - 3:30pm at the CMC Carbondale Center (690 Colorado Ave., Carbondale).

Support Group Summit
Mark your calendars support group leaders! The Parkinson Association will be holding a summit for all of our support group leaders on Saturday, March 7 from noon - 2pm! The location is the Gardens on Quail (6447 Quail St., Arvada). At this year's summit, we will be discussing common issues within a support group and some possible resources and solutions.

Parkinson Association Exercise Class Updates
 
The Parkinson Association is partnering with Altus Training Center in Frisco to start a Power Punch Parkinson's boxing program for people with Parkinson's and their care partners in Summit County. Come join us for an open house to meet the trainers, see the facility and learn more about the benefits of boxing!

Pilates for Parkinson's Open House
The Parkinson Associatio of the Rockies and Reds Pilates Garage are looking to start a Pilates for Parkinson's class and we want to hear from you! Exercise Instructor Summit
Mark your calendars instructors! The Parkinson Association will be holding a summit for all of our exercise instructors on Sunday, March 1st from 11:00am - 1:00pm! The location is Gardens on Quail (6447 Quail St., Arvada).. At this year's summit, we will be discussing some of the latest and greatest exercise trends, important mental skills and best practices.

The Memory Cafe 
A social group for people experiencing any form of memory loss, along with their friends and family. The Cafe has a different presenter each time - everything from art to music to science - and the focus is on connection and joy. Join us for a fun and relaxing time as we gather for coffee, tea, and treats -- without worrying about remembering or forgetting!

Pedaling 4 A Purpose
Pedaling 4 Parkinson's (P4P) is hosting a fundraising event with a high energy spin class. Make it a part of your training for their 2020 bike ride this summer! All ticket proceeds go to Pedaling 4 A Purpose.

Iron Horse Bicycle Classic
The beloved beat-the-train ride in Durango, Colorado is BACK! You can join Team DPF at Iron Horse May 22-24 to raise funds for the Davis Phinney Foundation to help people with Parkinson's live well today. In partnership with Parkinson's Association of the Rockies, 50% of funds raised will support the local Durango Parkinson's community directly. 

*Team DPF fundraisers at Iron Horse will receive a complimentary registration, limited to the first 30 people.

The registration process takes two steps: register first on the event page here, then the participant will receive a confirmation email with a code to register for free on the IHBC registration

Pssst: A fundraiser can be as easy as getting 10 friends and family members together or hosting your company's next event at a local restaurant that will donate 10-50% of sales to PAR!
