That's a Wrap!
O
ur 15th Annual Vitality Walk couldn't have been held on a more perfect Colorado day. On Sunday, June 4th we talk the talked and walked the walk with 1,174 registered walkers who participated on 73 teams. Together we shared with our community that no one is alone in this fight! Every step our event supporters took provides opportunities for the Parkinson Association to take more steps in connecting and empowering people with Parkinson's to thrive.
Team Never Give Up had 62 team members, 43 who traveled from other states (California, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Virginia & Wyoming) to join us for the Walk and to host their annual in-person support group meeting. They were closely followed by Sheila's Power Up! team, which had 61 registered team members.
Team Jackson was the top fundraising team, bringing in $87,011.33!
We are deeply grateful for all your support! As of this moment the Vitality Walk has raised over $200,160.00! We're still working hard to get all the event-day participants and generous contributions listed on the Vitality Walk website. We also know there are still some matching gifts and other donations to be accounted for. There is still time to met your personal fundraising goal; and we hope you'll continue to follow-up with potential contributors to support your participation in Walking the Walk! If we raise another $20,000 we will exceed this year's fundraising goal; ensuring we can continue to expand our programs and services by another 20% this year.

We're also gathering all the photos collected from all our volunteer photographers. By the end of the week we will have them loaded to our Facebook page. Have photos you want to share? Tag and share your photos to our Facebook, Instagram & Twitter

Temperatures are Rising!
Summer is here and with that comes the heat and sweat! If you deal with excessive sweating, here are a few tips to help you stay cool and dry!
What You Can Do
- take lukewarm showers
- wear lightweight cotton clothes in warm weather
- drink lots of water and other liquids
- in severe cases, for drenching sweats, your doctor may prescribe a medication such as propranolol (InderalĀ®)
If your palms and feet are more likely to sweat, your doctor can prescribe topical medications including:
- aluminum chloride hexahydrate
- anticholinergics (e.g., glycopyrrolate)
- iontophoresis (a therapy that uses electric current)

Ride to Defeat Parkinson's
On Sunday June 11th, a biker community came together for an early Father's Day surprise. Angela Pierce with the help of family and friends hosted a Ride to Defeat Parkinson's fundraiser in honor of her father, Randy Schiell.
A special thanks to Angela Pierce and all those who came out to support the event. The event not only raised over $1,400 for our Parkinson's community, but generated awareness.
