Dear Parish Pro-Life Coordinator:

It was a very different 40 Days for Life this year, but in spite of the challenges, YOU were there! Thanks to all of our parishes, groups, and individuals who came out to pray at one of the two vigil sites and the nearly 200 who prayed from home or in front of the Blessed Sacrament. Praise God, during this vigil, 33 babies were SAVED! And the stories out on the streets were amazing. Check out some of them here.

In addition to the amazing fruits of the prayer vigils and two beautiful Respect Life Masses, October also marked the resumption of the Walking with Moms in Need campaign (previously postponed due the parish closures).

By now, your parish pastor and priests have received a package of materials, including a cover letter from Bishop Burns, announcing the U.S. Bishops' national campaign to help pregnant and parenting moms in need. CPLC is serving as the diocesan designated contact, and we're here to help you and your parish. The two main parts of the packets include:
As parish pro-life coordinators, this is a perfect opportunity for you to help your parish develop a plan to best serve moms in need and bring focus to your respect life efforts.  Please reach out to your pastor to ask how you can help. Your participation is key to making this program a success.

For additional information and and a parish action guide, please visit prolifedallas.org/resources. To learn more about the campaign, you may also visit WalkingWithMoms.com. We are here to assist you!

GIVE THE GIFT OF GOD'S MERCY AND HEALING
There's still two opportunities before the end of 2020 to experience healing after an abortion through a life-changing Rachel's Vineyard™ Retreat (English) on Nov. 13-15 or a Project Joseph© Day of Healing for men (en español) on Dec. 6. If you know someone suffering from an abortion experience, give them the gift of mercy this season by encouraging them to attend a healing retreat. THE PRESENTATION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY
This month, we celebrate the presentation of the Blessed Mother. Mary's presentation was celebrated in Jerusalem in the sixth century, and a church was built there in honor of this mystery.

As with Mary's birth, we read of Mary's presentation in the temple only in apocryphal literature.  Though it cannot be proven historically, Mary's presentation has an important theological purpose. It continues the impact of the feasts of the Immaculate Conception and of the birth of Mary. It emphasizes that the holiness conferred on Mary from the beginning of her life on earth continued through her early childhood and beyond.

Thus this feast helps us focus on an important truth about Mary's dedication to God from the beginning of her life. She herself became a greater temple than any made by hands, as God came to dwell in her in a marvelous manner and sanctified her for her unique role in God's saving work. At the same time, the magnificence of Mary enriches her children. We too are temples of God and sanctified in order that we might enjoy and share in God's saving work.

As we enter into this season of Thanksgiving, I know I am especially thankful for your commitment to God's work on behalf of the most vulnerable.
