*******Panther Pick-up Dates & Link Crew's Freshman Orientation *********

How is Panther Pick-up different than Link Crew’s Freshman Orientation?

Panther pick-up is for ALL students grades 9 – 12 and parents to be on campus. This is a time for students to pick-up parking tag, pick-up pre-ordered PE uniforms, rent locker, join PTSO/IB Boosters/ROTC Boosters and walk their schedule until they are comfortable.

  • 9th & 10th grade Panther Pick-up is Monday, August 7th from noon to 6pm.
  • Please use the sign-up Genius to select a time slot.

  • 11th & 12th grade Panther Pick-up is Tuesday, August 8th from noon to 5pm.
  • Please use the sign-up Genius to select a time slot.

Link Crew’s Freshman Orientation is August 3rd OR 8th from 5pm to 8pm.

Link Crew is a junior and senior organization where each member is assigned a group of freshmen to mentor. This year we are allowing 9th graders to select the night they attend. It is EXTREMELY important that a date is selected using the sign-up Genius’ below by Wednesday, July 26th so Link Crew leaders can form groups.

You can use the link below to select a date.

https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F044FA8AF2BABFE3-class

Link Crew will also provide an orientation to all new students entering 10th, 11th and 12th grade on Friday, August 4th from 3-5pm. You do not need to sign-up, just show up.

******************************Schedule Preview**********************************

Schedules will be available on HAC Wednesday, July 26th & Thursday, July 27th

For brand-new students to St. Johns County, HAC will not be available until you log into HAC while on a St. Johns County school property accessing the network. New student account information will be available for new students at Panther pick-up on August 7th & 8th in the auditorium.

Students will have TWO days to review their schedule and notify us of a scheduling error using the link below

Errors will be corrected prior to school starting.

Errors include…

·        a hole in the schedule

·        a course on the schedule previously taken

·        a missing course needed for graduation

·        a missing course that is the next course in the progression from a course already taken. (For example, student took Spanish 1 last year with no grade lower than a C, but Spanish 2 is missing on schedule.)

Requests to change a course level, change an elective, switch from a brick & mortar course to virtual, add modified, or to change a teacher will not be honored.

SENIORS ONLY: modified period(s) might have been changed while classes were being balanced to meet class-size amendment requirements; therefore, requests to change a student’s modified period(s) will not be honored.

Families that have not completed the annual RSV (Returning Student Verification) or have expired leases will NOT be able to see their schedule on July 26th & 27th.  PLEASE take care of these issues BEFORE August 3rd, so we can have HAC turned on for Panther Pick-up.

********************* INFO FOR PANTHER PICK-UP ******************************

Digital ID APP

Again, this year students will use a Digital ID app on their phone. Plastic IDs will be available for everyone to use as a back-up. We have found the Digital ID is more accessible because a phone is rarely forgotten at home unlike the plastic ID.  Information will be sent before Panther Pick-up about updating or downloading the Digital ID app.

Digital Citizenship - REQUIRED

Each year students are REQUIRED by the school district to review the SJCSD Student Code of Conduct and AUP for computer use. Following this review, students MUST submit a Code of Conduct Parent/Student Acknowledgement and digital citizenship quiz. We encourage students to read the Student Code of Conduct, the District AUP and sign/complete the acknowledgement and quiz PRIOR to August 7th, when we will generate a list of completers. During Panther Pick-up we will check the list to verify that each student has completed the acknowledgement and quiz. If a student is not on the list, the student will use a computer to complete this requirement. Complete both required items with the link below. Students MUST be logged into their Microsoft 365 account to complete. The username is “S” plus student number @stjohns.k12.fl.us (s435847@stjohns.k12.fl.us), “password” is your HAC password.

Parking

Juniors and seniors who were awarded and paid for a parking tag, MUST submit the 3 required documents (license, registration & insurance card) to drive on campus using the link below. Students MUST be logged into their Microsoft 365 account to complete. The username is “S” plus student number @stjohns.k12.fl.us (s435847@stjohns.k12.fl.us)

Password is your HAC password

Parking documents need to be submitted by Friday, July 28th. Students that submit by July 28th will have their documents verified and tag ready for quick easy pick-up during Panther Pick-up on August 8th. Students who miss the deadline will have to wait until Mrs. Kunze has time to verify the documents before tag is received. This could be after school starts.

Bus Information

If your child is riding the bus, it is IMPERATIVE they know their bus number for the afternoon. Have student place their bus number in their phone if you think they will forget. Dismissal the first couple of weeks is hectic with new students learning our system. Administrators working bus dismissal do not have access to lookup a bus number and they do not know the routes of all 20 buses. Students can look up their bus numbers and bus stop location in HAC.

The intent of the bus transportation department is to have routes available on HAC on Monday, July 31st. We have invited someone from transportation to attend Panther Pick-up on the 7th to answer transportation questions.

Lockers

School lockers (not PE lockers) will be rented for $5. Lockers are available in the hallways in D-pod and upstairs in Panther Hall. Please look at the 7th period class and choose the closest location. Lockers are stacked 3 high with locks already on them. Please have an idea of where you would want your locker before getting in line.

D-pod Lockers

  • 100 to 171 by entry door to D-pod & D-2

  • 310 to 435 by D-26, D027, D-7, & D-8
  • 436 to 507 by entry door to D-pod & D3

PE Uniforms

PE Lockers

PE lockers will be issued during PE class; however, you can pay now and PE teachers will be given a list of students who have paid, so you don't have to send your child to school with money. The rental fee is $5.

https://www.schoolpay.com/pay/for/20232024-Nease-Physical-Education--Locke/SdnfXiv

Textbooks

Textbooks will NOT be checked out to students during Panther Pick-up as very few courses have enough textbooks for each student since students have access to textbooks online and teachers have class sets.

PTSO and IB Boosters

Both organizations will be set up in the cafeteria and families are encouraged to join.

WHAT IF MY CHILD CAN NOT ATTEND PANTHER PICK-UP?

  • Students who need a picture for their ID, can go to the Media Center between 8:45am and 9:15am the first week of school to have their picture taken.
  • Lockers will be sold in Counselors Corner in the cafeteria from August 10th through August 16th.
  • Parking tags – students need to email Mrs Kunze at Lisa.Kunze@stjohns.k12.fl.us
