Nease Digital Design Students Learn Client-Based Design Process

Digital Design 1 students, part of the Communications Academy at Nease, recently had the opportunity to get some insight into the life of a professional graphic designer. Katy Hoffstatter, Associate Yearbook Representative with Herff Jones (a Nease Advisory Board Business Partner), spent the morning in our Design classroom. She shared her professional path, from working on her high school yearbook, to majoring in Communications at Flagler College, to an internship and then jobs in the design industry, which led her to what she calls her dream job: helping students design yearbooks across south Georgia and North Florida. Katy shared that she uses several different software platforms, many within the Adobe Creative Suite, which the Academy students learn and get certified in during their time in the program. She also walked students through the design process when working with a client. She showed students the "inspo" sent by the client, then her design concepts, and then the final design that the client selected. This was fantastic insight for the students! Finally, she answered questions from the students, which covered a range of topics related to the design and yearbook industries. Thank you, Katy, for spending the morning with our Digital Design students!

Applications for the Citi Women In IT one-week summer internship are now available!

This is a one-week internship for female-identifying students who are 16 years or older as of June 1, 2024. Students do not have to be 16 at the time of application. This internship is seeking candidates who are passionate about pursuing a technology-based career.

There are two steps to apply: 1. Fill out a survey with your info (QR code to survey link is on the flyer) 2. Submit an essay by attaching it to an email and emailing the email address as seen on the flyer.

Those accepted into the one-week internship will have opportunities in the future to apply to our WIT 6-week high school and/or the WIT 10-week college program. Many past WIT one-weekers go into one or both and then move on to other internships at Citi and even full-time roles! It is a great opportunity, but it all starts with applying to the one-week internship. Students do not have to be in an Academy to apply. This is an in-person internship, so students must be able to attend on-site at the Citi campus off of Old. St. Augustine Rd, near Baptist South (address in flyer). Please see flyer for full details of eligibility

IB News

Mrs. Kennedy has visited TOK this week to register students for Spring IB examinations. AP and IB exam conflict forms have been provided to the AP Coordinator, Ms. Newman, so she can verify alternate exams and location for these exams.

Seniors were given their gold envelopes to begin their college application process with Nease. Please see the contents of the envelope so you are aware of how to request transcripts, secure letters of recommendations and get secondary school reports completed by Mrs. Kennedy. More information is located in the guidance section of this Panther Press.

Lots of information is being posted on the Nease IB Schoology Page. All IB students have been placed in the group and provided the group code to join during the meetings mentioned above. Please ask your student what has been posted lately.

Thank you to those that have joined our IB Booster Club.  They are a non-profit charitable organization run by a volunteer board of parents. All parents with students in the IB program are encouraged to join and participate in the IB Booster events. Parent participation, whether occasionally or on a routine basis, contributes to the success of our students in the IB program. Please visit the website at www.neaseibboosters.org for more information. We are looking forward to meeting you and hope to see you get involved! The next Booster Club meeting will be held at 9:45 on October 24th in the Nease Media Center. We look forward to seeing everyone there. All visitors are required to sign in, so please make sure you are an approved volunteer with the St. Johns County School District.

·        Student-Athlete Letters and Awards

·        FHSAA membership dues and other fees
