Worship this Sunday

Holy Week at Highland 

Palm Sunday, March 24th - We will walk our property with Palms and shouts of ‘Hosanna’ for Palm Sunday on March 24th.  The llamas will arrive at the church at 10:00 am and you are invited to arrive early to visit with them before walking the property.

After Sunday's worship we will have fellowship time to celebrate Sandy Miller's time with us as she prepares to move to North Carolina at the end of this month.

Maundy Thursday, March 28th - We will have a combined Maundy Thursday/Good Friday service in the sanctuary at 6:00 p.m. with communion and reflection on the passion story. 

Easter Sunday, March 31st 

Maryville College Easter Sunday Sunrise service, 7:00 a.m. Lloyd Beach on the Maryville College campus. Rain location: Center for Campus Ministry. 

Men’s Breakfast at 9:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall with wonderful food prepared by the men of the church and great time for fellowship. 

Easter Worship 10:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary

Egg Hunt 11:30 a.m. on the church property. 

Donations of eggs, candy, and/or money for the Easter Egg Hunt would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to make a donation, please see Stacey Davis, Kathy White, Carole Schenk, or Jan Bell. Thank you!

Free Little Neighborhood Item of the Week

Our Free Little Neighborhood Item of the week is boxed meals.  Next time you’re at the grocery store, please pick up any boxed meals that would be easy for a person to cook at home.  

Spring Compost Sale 

Saturday, March 23rd

Our spring compost sale will take place tomorrow, March 23rd, at Highland from 8 a.m. - noon.  We still need help to bag up the compost for the sale so if you are able to come out on Friday or Saturday, let Elan and the Sustainability committee know!

One Great Hour of Sharing

PC(USA) Special Offering 

Highland will collect our first of four PC(USA) Special Offerings, the One Great Hour of Sharing Offering.  The three programs supported by One Great Hour of Sharing - Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, the Presbyterian Hunger Program, and Self Development of People - all work in different ways to serve individuals and communities in need.  From initial disaster response to ongoing community development, their work fits together to provide people with safety, sustenance, and hope.  We will officially collect this offering on Easter Sunday, March 31st, but you are welcome to give to it before then.

Jubilee House Center for Development in Central America

Highland Work Day

Saturday, April 6th

Join the Building and Grounds Committee on Saturday, April 6 as we have a work day at the church to get the outside taken care of and a few projects inside done as well. 

Prayers, Concerns and Joys

Please pray for our members, families, and friends.

We lift-up prayers for those among our community who are shut in. Be with them as they are separated in body from their loved ones.

Sarah Dennis Family- Sarah's cousin, Aaron, passed away in a motorcycle crash and our prayers are with her and Aaron's family. His obituary can be seen here with a service to be held in Knoxville on Friday, March 22nd.

Erickson Family- Fred Erickson is moving out of the house to assisted living and prayers are appreciated during this transition.

Sandy Miller- Church member Sandy is moving to North Carolina at the beginning of April. We will miss her dearly and will pray for a smooth transition.

Jussara's Son - Jussara’s son, Alex, and his wife welcomed their first child, baby boy Daniel, born March 11th. He and mom are doing well and we give thanks for this birth of new life.

Ukraine- Let us continue to keep the people of Ukraine in our prayers as the war there continues on well past a year. 

Homeless - Let us pray for those who do not have a warm place to stay and give thanks for places that have opened their doors to provide safety during cold weather. 

Palestine and Israel - Prayers for peace and reconciliation as the war between Palestine and Israel continues.
