We Need Your Support!

In our May Synod Assembly this year we adopted a resolution in “Support of the Afghan Adjustment Act”. Both the House and the Senate have recently reintroduced bipartisan bills (H.R.4627 & S2327) that would allow Afghans who sought refuge in the United States after the US withdrawal to apply for permanent legal residency after undergoing additional vetting. Lawmakers hope this might pass very soon.

Our Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton and Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services encourages you to contact your members of Congress NOW to encourage their support of these bills.

The European Descent Lutheran Association for Racial Justice (EDLARJ) is an ally with the other ethnic ministry associations in the ELCA. We're an organization of white Lutherans listening, learning, and acting with our siblings to dismantle white supremacy within the church and society.

We'll learn and collaborate with other ELCA racial justice ministry leaders. We'll encourage and strengthen congregational and synodical racial justice teams to take their next steps. We'll see in-the-flesh part of the beautiful, courageous network the Holy Spirit is knitting across the ELCA.

We'll thank God and pray to God for the gifts of truth and healing. We'll be led by community members on a pilgrimage to George Floyd Square. We'll learn from Twin Cities racial justice organizers.

We'll also do some internal EDLARJ organizing. We'll elect board members and plan for education, advocacy, and community organizing ministries. We meet only every three-years for this kind of church-wide organizing, so please plan to attend.
