Earlier this month, the Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum was honored with the prestigious 2024 Curatorial Excellence Award by Naval History and Heritage Command (NHHC). This accolade is a testament to the museum’s dedication to preserving and showcasing the rich history and heritage of the U.S. Navy.
The NHHC’s Museum Excellence Awards are a benchmark for public, non-profit organizations, celebrating those who excel in presenting the U.S. Navy’s legacy through exceptional programs, exhibits, artifact conservation, and historical research. Each year, applicants are rigorously evaluated, with only the best rising to the top.
But what sets the Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum apart is that it is the first museum to be awarded all three of the available awards since the NHHC’s awards program began in 2021. Having already secured the Museum Overall Excellence Award in 2021 and the Maintenance Excellence Award in 2023, this latest recognition marks a rare “clean sweep” of all available awards from the NHHC. This accomplishment underscores the museum's role as a leader in preserving naval history and as a beacon for future generations.
